The Tinubu handlers fumbled, and bungled it big time. They showcased him like a packaged invalid. It would have been better to present him as a brilliant politician and administrator, warts and all, who is capable of independent thoughts. No man is perfect. His gaffes would have been more pardonable and acceptable. He was expected to sell his own vision and mission.

The way some people play politics is too bad to be ignored.

His supporters endorsed his presidential candidacy because they believe he is the one that developed Lagos State. They said he will replicate Lagos development in the entire country. When they were reminded that he is no longer as healthy as he was when he governed Lagos, they claimed he is not sick.

When his body weakness manifested beyond all doubts, they said he doesn't need physical strength to be a president. They said all he needs to govern Nigeria is a sound mind. They claimed he is mentally sound enough to be the president.

He himself has now proven that he is not as mentally sound as they claimed. I wonder what they will say next . Apparently, his inarticulateness is why he has been avoiding presidential debates and town hall meetings.

When they want to defend his questionable past, they say the past doesn't matter. But when they want to justify their unjustifiable support for his candidacy, they talk about how he governed Lagos State in the past. Inconsistency is a deadly disease.
