Hello guys. I got this Airtel 4g mifi device from Airtel office yesterday for 5k and was given free 5gb data valid for one month. As soon as I connected my phone I observed the data was running down very fast. My phone consumed over 1gb in a very short while. I was curious and checked my WiFi data usage and found out Google was eating up my data. I have tried all possible solutions including turning off automatic update on playstore and also turning off automatic synchronization and backup of data.
Guys I need help. Like urgently to fix this. I cannot subscribe on WiFi for my computer and also on my phone. That'll be a waste. I am now scared to turn on my Wi-fi cos I know the phone will consume the rest of the data. Please help with a quick fix guys.
I use a redmi note 9.

Please is there any wifi option in Nigeria that is completely unlimited, like no limit if yes at what cost and speed.

@op I'm sure but since you av disable auto updates and background data. You should disconnect from wifi when not in use and use mobile data.

Hope someone with a brighter idea comes around tho.

Simply delete or Disable the Google app... Problem solved ✔️

You can't stop it, just let it run its cause initially. Mine consumed up to 7gb the first time I connected to my mifi and since then it no longer does that.

After consuming about 11gb in total, it has finally stopped. Thank you

You can by turning off background usage. Simple! I been see shege for my own. Download app that monitor your data usage better, look for that app restrict it's usage. If you're using Samsung, don't idle ur WiFi connection up to 30 minutes without not doing anything, it wake up those demons consuming data apps

Restrict data usage from Google app, disable Wi-Fi

I am experiencing this now so I followed the option of disable the Google app and forcing it to stop without uninstalling it due to it being a pre installed app. And it works it has stopped eaty up my data
