Video: ‘You can’t hijack our church,’ Igbo worshippers protest American Bishop’s visit

There was a commotion in an Igbo Anglican Church in Irvington, New Jersey, the United States following a protest by Nigerians to forbid a white bishop from hijacking their church.

This was made available in a viral video published by a Facebook user, Ndumnoro Ogechukwu on Wednesday.

In the video, the woman filming the rowdy session said a particular Bishop Ross cannot hijack the church, adding that Nigerians do not believe in the same thing as him.

The congregant said the clergyman was not welcome in the church, and that he was an intruder Bishop from Colorado and a police officer from Irvington was also present.

She said, “This is happening in Igbo Anglican Church, Irvington, New Jersey. This is an intruder Bishop that came all the way from Colorado to come and hijack our church.

“And a police officer is here from Irvington police. This is what we’ve been facing. No, we don’t believe in the same thing. I don’t care, we don’t believe in the same thing!

“Bishop Ross cannot hijack our church. You cannot hijack our church. This will not happen. It will not happen.”

Nigerians in New Jersey call for arrest of Bishop who believes in same sex marriage and was invited to their church to preach (video)

Members of the Igbo Anglican Church in New Jersey called the police to 'arrest' a clergyman who was invited to their church to preach recently. Their grouse was that the clergyman believes in same-sex marriage, something they don't approve of.

Videos shared online shows the police in the church to 'pick up' the clergyman who they labelled an "intruder".

The opposing Church members are also seen accusing a white clergyman of coming to "hijack" their church.

You said u want same sex, that u are treated badly, killed and all sort of stuff when u are minority.

Now the law in US recognised this gay people but right now they want to force everyone to believe in it. If you don't they will be violent on u.

As much as it's commendable of them for standing their grounds and refusing to be part of what they don't believe in, they must also know that they are in another man's land with their own set of rules and beliefs which must be respected.

As long as the law of the land permits homosexuality and the church there accepts it, they must find a way to accommodate it themselves.
