Retrospectively we can use stats to knock him, but this was before the era of focusing on stats. He was the most dominant player on the pitch until his red card against Saudi and the same against. Like i said it was not Maradona levels, but he was the one who made that French team tick.

The free kick god. I remember his Freekick vs Chelsea in Stamford bridge. Chelsea vs Lazio

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Eq6arcfenvw
He was great but i would still give Juninho Pernambucano the edge. Mihaijlovic was so good that even after his legs were gone they were still putting him in the line up in case of free kicks. grin

If France had won the 2006 world cup im sure he would have been mentioned in the same breath as Pele and maradano cause he would have also won the ballon d'or over cannavaro for sure, I believe his very dominant performance before his sending off was even better than in 1998 but as always History recognizes only the winners

Most dominant World Cup performances in order

1. Maradona - 1986
2. Pele - 1958
3. Ronaldo - 2002
4. Rossi - 1982
5. Kempes - 1978
6. Garrincha - 1962
7. Zidane - 1998

Messi can join this list, or become a Baggio 1994 performance depending on the outcome of the final. Winning the gold and performing in the final gets him on the list between Ronaldo and Rossi in no4 position. Losing the final turns him into a Baggio of 1994
I'm not so sure with Zidane-98. If you remember correctly, Zidane didn't really light up the tournament untill the final. Not that he was poor but when you compare his exploits to others especially Maradona and Pele then you'll agree that he didn't really dominate.

If anything, Zidane dominanted 2006 world cup. All things considered including his age, 2006 was golden for him. He toyed with Brazil in the quarters. It's easy to forget Zidane-06 because, of course France failed to win and Canavro was awarded the world player of the year.

For me, Zidane-06 dominated, Zidane-98 came alive in the final. I'll go as far as saying that, Sucker dominated France-98 not Zidane. But because Croatia failed to win the Mundial, his world cup legend faded to oblivion!

Before na 2.75 against Argentina's 2.85.(bet9ja)
Now 2.88 against Argentina's 2.85.
The final is Argentina's to lose. France will have to rely on moments of magic as they no get wetin them dey play.

But we agree that Rossi dominated in 1982 because of the goals he scored and not anything else. Just like sucker in 1998. I mean Rossi didn't score a single goal in his first three games in ESP-82. Without his eventual six(6) goals, nobody dead or alive will say he dominated 1982 world cup.

It has always been about stats then who eventually won the whole thing.

Zidane did great in 1998, but dominated? I'm not so sure.

How about Argentina
TBH, I don't know but Pep predicted that Argentina could win the WC from the beginning of the season and I love Messi so I am praying it is true. France are better individually but nobody both past and present has ever played football/soccer better than Leo Messi.

angry Gallagher and broja are just occupying space eating fat on our money.

Chelsea pushing for moukoko after signing foffana , meaning, moukoko (if the deal goes through) might be our main striker, fofana second striker ,broja future will be discussed I'm sure of this

Broja will eventually be sold. Although I rooted for him for long, I saw enough of him to make me conclude that this will eventually happen. Gallagher has a ceiling to his talent and this will be the reason he will move on as well.

I don't mind better talented young players stealing the spots of those before them. I just don't want Saul coming in and taking space, when Lewis Hall is being overlooked...or spending £70m on Cucu when he's been only marginally better than Colwill.

Meanwhile, not sure if you are aware...Tudor Mendel Idowu has been training with the first team. I know you like Hutchinson, and don't get me wrong Hutchinson is a top-rated talent but I swear Tudor will give Hutch serious competition.

I watched a world cup programme on Supersport recently and the commentator said the 1982 world cup can't be mentioned without Rossi. IMO,for him to be remembered in that manner must have had him dominated the tournament.

yep at Least we tried with broja , Gallagher is all energy no brain ,count legs I had hoped for him ,he is good for bench but not as starting xi,as for Lewis/cucurella situation blame tuchel who doesn't have time for academy players, funny enough hall bagged assist and man. of the match under tuchel management, yet he just discarded the boy like that.

then as for Mendel idowu giving Hutchinson competition, that is the biggest joke I have heard so far ,Mendel has lots of footwork no end product he will be grateful to achieve what omari Hutchinson has done ,omari Hutchinson that has 12 G/A since signing for Chelsea, something that most academy signing have not done, please don't put Hutchinson with the same category as Mendel idowu,if want to compare,do it with odoi not Hutchinson

R.I.P to Sinisa Mihajlovic. One of the deadliest free kick exponents of all time. Only person i know to score a free kick hat trick.
Freekick killer. Seen him play in my first ever match I attended live which was Cup Winners Cup final between Lazio and Mallorca at Villa Park in 1999

Another thing to add, he could not have played in modern football without being chased from Europe cos nigga was a bloody racist, always abusing black players on the pitch grin grin

Happy international retirement to Busquets.
Although many of us may question his abilities outside the Barca system, his winning a WC and Euro before the age of 25 is an amazing feat!

History remembers the winner, if not we will add Baggio and Stoichkov in 1994, Forlan in 2010, or Cruyff in 1974. Zidane balled in 2006 but spoilt it in the final

Now, FIFA are reconsidering the format for the 2026 World Cup cheesy
There was no way that the exciting last round of group games at this year's World Cup would go unnoticed by the higher ups.

I'm predicting either a format of 16 groups of three teams (with group winners advancing to the round of 16), or
12 groups of four teams, with group winners and runners-up, as well as the best 8 third-placed teams across the groups advancing to the round of 32. I'm sure FIFA and the confederations and other stakeholders (including FIFpro) wouldn't mind accommodating a 5-5.5 week WC

FIFA competitions too much hence the need for second 11, the schedules are becoming cumbersome, another reason I support boehly sister club project.,as you need back up for your first team player, you just dip hand for the sister club , instead of wasting millions, like we did on cucurella, in boehly we trust

not also that the lack of back up for Kante a, James and chilwell over the previous seasons, hindered our league ambitions hence why we struggle to finish top 3 in league . but if you have squad depth all this won't be a problem , however ,lack of game time can force the back up player to leave the club ,a coach must find way to balance the two ,we saw evidence of that against wolves ,how Potter rested key players and used bench warmers to win wolves ,before his losing streak, I believe in Potter

From my observation most times when odds drop like that the team that it happens to wins. I am tired of being against argentina after they flogged croatia. I hope the sick french players that are sick recover to give us an entertaining final. But they won't win it.
