I seem to remember reading where the Taraba state governor said Obiano told him he financed the project from the savings Peter Obi made for the state. Surely that’s better than borrowing and i reckon Obi should be commended for his fiscal prudence.

The airport is surely coining it in, but i think 500 million per month is a tad overly optimistic! grin Just wondering the kind of sharing formula being used between the federal and state gov’ts to share revenue generated from the airport? I ask because i don’t remember the federal gov’t contributing shi-shi towards its construction.
Pls stop bringing up the Taraba governor fake news. Obiano has never mentioned he built the airport from any savings.
Obiano has only said he inherited over 100 billion debt!
If the airport had failed glory hunters would have disassociated themselves from it

This is what i like seeing! The airport is getting busier....just look at the sea of cars in the car park!

It's good Obiano settled for nothing but the best and the airports expansion and upgrade should continue with the present admin'! The Soludo admin' could seek private investors for a multi-level car park of say 4 or 5 levels. It would be a money spinner and could pay for itself within two years.

The main revenue for any airport in Nigeria is the passenger service charge which is N2,000 for domestic flights and $80 for international flights. With Anambra airport doing roughly 30,000 DOMESTIC takeoffs thats 60m per year. Not enough to make a dent on the huge cost of building and running the airport which cost reportedly between 40-60 BILLION. The airport has to push for international flights otherwise after 10-15 years its terminal, runway and parking lot will look like the one at Enugu which is poorly maintained because of lack of funds.

Getting International flights revenue of roughly N60,000 per passenger means that an airport doing even just 50,000 passengers per year like Enugu will gain roughly 3 BILLION in revenue to make the airport VIABLE. The MMA makes around $240 million from its 3M international passengers per year. It and Abuja are the only profitable airports in Nigeria.

Mktinsight your useless opinion doesn't matter in this case. You are a bitter frustrated fellow that thought the airport wouldn't be actualized, now it is up and running, you are yet again moving the goal post.

Anambra international airport has come to be and it is attracting the largest passengers in Nigeria outside MMIA and NAIA Abuja. Anambra international airport is making profit and in a matter of some years it will pay off the capital invested because of huge traffic and it will keep growing as international flights are getting ready to use the facility.

We don't need your opinion, so shut up your silly opinion.

This is quite busy. I almost mistook it for the MMIA airport terminal one.

As you implied, there are other revenue sources available to the state gov’t at the airport.

For starters, they could generate extra revenue by configuring the two electronic flight status boards to show advertisements as well (i noticed they were off when the latest pics were taken), and also have another bigger one outside by the car park.

If they’re not doing so already, they should be charging parking fees for cars parked in the parking lot. Charges should depend on the length of time the vehicle is parked there.

The airport can make extra money by letting out space for shops both within the terminal building and outside.

There’d be even more scope to increase revenue when the international and cargo parts of the airport commence operations.

These are important sources of revenue but strategically, they should try to get a company like Ethiopian Airlines to invest in the airport as a partner.

Ethiopian which already operates in Enugu could utilise the airport for cargo and run selected international flights to and from Anambra. For example since ET flies three times a week out of Enugu it could shift one flight a week for a start to gauge demand.

However, the Anambra State government has to do more to attract foreign investors. Awka is a mess with keke everywhere and trash on the roads. They need to clean up awka so that it would have same attraction as Enugu.

Mktinsight the night owl. Anambra international airport has come to stay as the busiest airport in Nigeria with the exception of Abuja and Lagos international airports. You only rear your bare head each time this airport is being discussed your body will be peppering you. Anambra is moving forward and Awka is the fastest developing city in Nigeria with the exception of Abuja. Anambra in general is a whole construction site with massive road reconstruction ongoing.

Shameless thing. So now you agree the airport can even get 4 flights a day despite zero FG contribution and an airport that is barely a year? How many Private jets per day?

Firstly, to correct you. That airport cost more than 100 billion to build and Anambra doesn't have that money. And if we didn't borrow where did you think the money came from.

Secondly, the ICC cost is well close to 100 billion and where did you think the money came from. Anambra investments liquidated by Obiano is valued in the neighborhood of over 200 billion....that more than our yearly budget.

Now , why did you think the cost of the ICC and airport was never made public and why is Obiano avoiding the press after multiple invitations to explain his stewardship.

Now, why hasn't Obiano countered the Taraba state governor who inquired how he is able to deliver such a capital intensive projects in such a short time. Something the federal government finds difficult to achieve.

Obiano liquidated all our savings to build airport and ICC.

Onye nzuzu abulu onu, I thought you said that Anambra won't achieve the airport project, now you have moved to four flights, you will still move your goal post when the international airlines begins flight schedules there. cheesy

Now you are talking about Abuja and PH, unlike before you were yapping about motorpark airports in enugu and Imo. It means that Anambra international airport is actually the fastest growing airport traffic in Nigeria considering that it just opened for business in just one year. Mumu old frustrated fffool. Obiano has severally debunked the fake savings (again I'll be publishing the links in case you forgot). Also Obiano in the 2017 Anambra Gov debate said Obi only left 15 billion and over 100 billion in debt, so the so called Obi savings were not even enough to clear his debts. So there is nothing like Obi savings.

This was how you fools were egging Soludo with the fake news of Obi's investment now worth 100 million until Soludo came out to debunk it in a well written article and they the same noisemakers started crying how Soludo is jealous of Obi, how Soludo is againts Igbo presidency and other nonsense.

Soludo has already answered all Obiano needs to answer which is that the so called savings by obi are worth NEXT to nothing. Some of the so called investments were not even touched by Obiano. Stop regurgitating the fake nonsense of Obiano using the fake savings to build the airport which you idiots never believed would be possible!

Obiano has publicly stated in debates and elsewhere that his biggest source of funding as governor were donors, and not the fake savings.
