He remains an ex-convict.... Just that he was not imprisoned... He paid fines which does not nullify the conviction of the court.... |

If Obi must remain untainted by this, he must now sack and distance himself from Doyin Okupe. |

Aufbauh:Hope you're not on APC's side of the fence sha, cause na that side worse pass. The majority of the other individuals that received the huge sum of cash constituting a money laundering offence and the person that gave those cash (Mr Dasuki) are all roaming free since they've defected to APC. Join APC and your past acts of corruption is forgiven and you'll be given a clean slate. Pot calling kettle black. ![]() |

OLULAW:Obi is part and parcel of old crooked corrupt establishment, cannot distance from the rot, unless he wants to loose his position to his VP. If Obi so much as speak on this issue, that will end his candidacy in LP. ![]() |
So you collect 200 million and then pay 13 million as fine? Or has he been made to forfeit the 200 million? Or am I missing something here?
Read and understand before making comments now. ![]() He was convicted of handling more than the amount of cash allowed to be handled by any individual under the law. According to the law, no private individual must handle and do a transaction of ₦5million and above without using a financial institution. He was not convicted of stealing money o. ![]() The funniest thing is that, majority of the individuals that received huge sum of money like him and the person that gave them the large sum are all roaming free. A lot of individuals that received money like him have joined APC and no investigation as being conducted into their alleged involvement in the criminal act of money laundering till date. I can't help but feel that this is a political move to discredit the Obi movement since he's using the same scam motto used by APC in 2015. ![]() |

Aufbauh:How is he a criminal did they accuse him of stealing any money? If u say he is a criminal for receiving money in cash above the recommended threshold then tinibu is also a worser criminal for transporting cash in bullion vans which was seen by everyone. |

Dybala11:Hmmm so what’s the difference between money laundering and stealing ? What’s the difference between embezzling and stealing ? You want to use English to confuse us the more Stealing = ole , Ba ra wo, onye oshi….. thief na thief |

BAZ001:Jesus, wallowing in ignorance and not knowing it, is as good as being dead o. The question should have been what is the meaning of money laundering bro. At least understand the meaning of words before you start disgracing yourself on a public forum like this. ![]() Lemme give you a scenario to explain the difference between the two. Let's say for instance that I'm the richest man alive and as a Nigerian, I wanted to use just ₦5 million to sort something out. If I go ahead to pay the money in cash then it's an act of money laundering. Will you now imply that I stole money?? I just pray you understand the simple example given o. ![]() |

BAZ001:Well on your last statement, I agree with you though. All Nigerian politicians, BAT, Atiku and Obi, are thieves. ![]() |

Dybala11:Sir the money in question was traced from government to you ? Did you work for the money ? If yes why are you carrying it in cash and not right means ? Money laundering is money that is not declared or hiding ? If you money is clean u will not launder it. What you described up there is not true , if you are a business man or musician you will declare that you taking dis money in cash for any reason. Not hide it . So you will hold bill gate for carry cash or even dangote or wiz kid ? Ordinary zazuu will not be charged for carry cash |
| Re: Money Laundering: Okupe Pays ₦13 Million Fine, Escapes Two-Year Jail by Dybala11(m): 4:07pm On Dec 20, 2022 |
BAZ001:Did EFCC try to investigate whether he used the money for what he said he used it for?? Was he convicted for embezzling or diversion of government funds?? The headline of his conviction says he committed a crime of money laundering and that's all. Bros, that's the provision of the law, as funny as it may be. That's exactly why I can't help but feel that it's a political move. Cos this is a law that is flouted almost on a daily basis. They have to wait until elections are near to sentence someone of that offence while some others that did the same act were not charged cause they've joined the ruling party. Common, it's a very bold statement bros. ![]() |

BAZ001:By the way, he said he was given the money to sort out specific issues o. Proving that he either diverted the fund or that it was not his place to get funds to sort out what he's claiming he was told to do should be the way forward o. Wait, you were referring to Peter Obi in one of your comments bah. Nigerian politicians can't fool me twice at all. ![]() |
| Re: Money Laundering: Okupe Pays ₦13 Million Fine, Escapes Two-Year Jail by Dybala11(m): 4:13pm On Dec 20, 2022 |
BAZ001:Hiding it or not doesn't make you less guilty of money laundering bros, once you handle and process cash of about ₦5 million and above as a citizen or you handle and process cash of ₦10 million as a corporate body, for a transaction without using a financial institution as a go-between, then you've committed the act of money laundering bro. The justification for doing that can constitute a separate crime though. ![]() |

You will need to read the judgement very well before jumping into abysmal conclusion. Note: he was not convicted for the purpose and usage of the money rather, he was convicted for the means used in collection the money (cash). Mind you, the president approved the money for him but instead of collecting through the bank he collected cash instead Racoon: |
