rvp20182:Nigeria as well and Kenya has released half year data.... So again it's irrelevant since the October economic outlook is the most up to date GDP figures we have available. |
| Re: Kenyans Are Far Behind Nigerians In Every Aspect – Fani-Kayode by jl115: 10:18pm On Dec 20, 2022 |
Shaytun:Q3 data has been published by Nigeria so yes those figures are accurate.... Also I'm specifically talking about GDP ppp not GDP nominal... Which is what you are mentioning |

jl115:Read his submission again. He has actually cemented your take on recent data. Data from Q3 is not the same 3 months later, unless the country is a sleeping giant. Q3 is nearly// almost an annual fiscal data --- which now covers data from all quarters in a year, Q1---Q4. So, each complete quarter gives us the most valid recent data. And yes, since Q3 is the only recent data, then we can go with it. |

Shma2022:Read: "The idiot might not know this. But everyone knows this is the 4th quarter. He's just arguing blindly trying to curry favour." "The figure you posted stands for Q3 2022 not the whole year of 2022." "There are 4 Quarters in a year, the figure you posted contains 3 quarters, the result of the last quarter we are in is not yet out, how then can you claim that’s nigeria figure for 2022?" |

jl115:Oh my lord!! What we have is a projected GDP figures of 2022!!!. That takes into account data from Q1-Q3. Real GDP figures of any country is not yet out since Q4 data is projected and not Real!!! Why are you being ret@rded? It’s even stated on the IMF website you’re getting your figures from

rvp20182:Ghana has fully recovered and back stronger. It's the fastest recovery I've seen in recent times without taking any help from anyone. That's what resilience look like. I'm more worried for Kenya, you guys have been down for 3 years now and the problems are no near being solved. Your country has a budget deficit of almost 12 billion dollars and you guys are celebrating over budget support of 450 million from IMF ![]() Is that even equivalent to 5% ? You are half year out and kra has only collected 750 billion and a depreciating kshs is only making things worse for you. Your country is not smart at all ... Who in his right mind will be subsidizing rice import by removing taxes when you can use that tax to support Kenyan rice farmers to grow more rice? This is what being belly flat looks like

Just30:You saying Ghana is out of the woods is far from the truth. Kenya new tax regime, may lead to exodus of companies changing base if they haven't started already.
|
| Re: Kenyans Are Far Behind Nigerians In Every Aspect – Fani-Kayode by Just30: 10:17am On Dec 21, 2022 |
AfriqueDuZuid:It's the closest you can come to the truth.. Ghana took prudent steps to nip the cedi depreciation in the bud and now inflation has dropped massively .... The 3 main drivers of Ghana inflation have gone down Those are the two things that drove Ghana into a crisis. As for Kenya, it's like they don't understand what's happening to them, they keep digging deeper into it. The list of bankrupt companies in Kenya keep increasing and the exodus keeps growing hence the huge 6 billion capital outflows. |
| Re: Kenyans Are Far Behind Nigerians In Every Aspect – Fani-Kayode by vaxx: 10:18am On Dec 21, 2022 |
AfriqueDuZuid:Ghana is absolutely on the verge of comeback . The debt exchange program is geared toward maximizing macro economics condition. By middle 2023 at most Ghana will have fully come back . At least , there is less pressure on the cedis now. Inflation is gradually coming down.. prices of some commodity are halved by 30 percent since the beginning of the fall of the dollar. We are getting the inflation in check. Fuel price is also down. Our public transport service have reduce their transport fare ......

vaxx:Fuel prices going down is a global trend Same goes for falling inflation |
| Re: Kenyans Are Far Behind Nigerians In Every Aspect – Fani-Kayode by GeneralDae2: 10:25am On Dec 21, 2022 |
Just30:Some say Ghana used her little reserves to shore up the cedis and this is why they had to announce a halt to their external debt servicing. However, I can’t find any official report to this claim, does this have some atom of truth? |
| Re: Kenyans Are Far Behind Nigerians In Every Aspect – Fani-Kayode by vaxx: 10:29am On Dec 21, 2022 |
AfriqueDuZuid:it is a global phenomenon , true. So do you also have your public transportation prices coming down . Since that is the only fact you pick from the write up. |
| Re: Kenyans Are Far Behind Nigerians In Every Aspect – Fani-Kayode by Just30: 10:30am On Dec 21, 2022 |
AfriqueDuZuid:Don't take it from me ... Take it from economist and capital market analyst like Noah "Ghana basically did a speedrun of its emerging market crisis, getting the pain over with and skipping to the recovery phase". |
| Re: Kenyans Are Far Behind Nigerians In Every Aspect – Fani-Kayode by Just30: 10:31am On Dec 21, 2022 |
AfriqueDuZuid:Not really when the fall in prices here has been greater than the international market fall |
| Re: Kenyans Are Far Behind Nigerians In Every Aspect – Fani-Kayode by vaxx: 10:35am On Dec 21, 2022 |
GeneralDae2:nah, there is suspension on any external debt payment for now, that increased the liquidity anyway but it wasn't enough. the actual reason is the continue buying of forex from mining and oil sector , the increased of forex from remintance and couple with the staff level agreement with the IMF . When we reached the board level, the economy will have fully recovered. |

| Re: Kenyans Are Far Behind Nigerians In Every Aspect – Fani-Kayode by AfriqueDuZuid: 10:42am On Dec 21, 2022 |
Just30:Recovery sometimes takes months or years Wait for the quarterly economic report will take it from there |
| Re: Kenyans Are Far Behind Nigerians In Every Aspect – Fani-Kayode by Just30: 10:44am On Dec 21, 2022 |
GeneralDae2:Not true They are speculating because they don't understand how it recovered so fast. What caused the cedi to recover that fast had to do with Ghana making dollars unavailable to certain importers hence forcing them to source products locally which immediately reduce the pressure by 2 billion dollars and creating an immediate surge in the need for the cedis which led to a shortage of cedis for a period. This was exacerbated by progress in a 5 billion dollars worth of fuel for cedis swap agreement that will make oil marketers directly or indirectly trade fuel in cedis. The reserves has actually increased to 9 billion dollars. The halt to external debt servicing was actually a smart move meant to extremely drop Ghana debt burden below 50% in the next 3 to 5 years by forcing bond holders like blackrock, Franklin Templeton and co to immediately run to the negotiation table to create a favourable spread... |

AfriqueDuZuid:I am asking if the price is down . Subsidy exist in every sector in one form or the other . Don't be a bad student . Do you have your transport fares coming down since the fall of the fuel ? I think Ghana is the only country that have done it . You can bring an evidence to disagree |
| Re: Kenyans Are Far Behind Nigerians In Every Aspect – Fani-Kayode by AfriqueDuZuid: 10:47am On Dec 21, 2022 |
vaxx:In SA, transport fares never come down, even if petrol prices to record lows |
| Re: Kenyans Are Far Behind Nigerians In Every Aspect – Fani-Kayode by Just30: 10:48am On Dec 21, 2022 |
AfriqueDuZuid:number 1 was the cedi appreciation and number 2 was BOG aiding oil marketers in their trade by making finance conditions highly favourable. |
