I will be getting my first car ON Monday an Honda EOD,

I have been doing research for several months now and I have learnt alot here and on other forums.

I have also gone through the Honda accord Maintainace manual. I have read about the ball joint issue and the routine maintenance involved.

As a new timer, what are the things I should know? I.e Recommended Engine Oil, Transmission oil, etc..

I got it from a man who got it from kano a month ago. Although it hasn't been registered before. I used the VIN to confirm that.

I asked because you need to get the service history of the Nigerian man. The engine oil type, if the gear oil has been replaced before ?. What has been changed in the car

He said nothing has been changed. I just did some adjustments like working on the legs and wheel balancing. I plan to drain and refill the transmission oil to honda atf and also the engine oil.

Okay. Which engine oil? Which gear oil?

He doesn't know, he drove down from kano with the Trans oil and engine oil. He hasn't done any change.

Can't I just drain and use the recommended oil?

If there is sludge and you use Mobil fully synthetic, it will clean the sludge and cause the oil screen to block. This may affect the oil pump and could lead to engine knock

There's no sludge. All I want to know is can I drain and refill with Honda's recommendations?

Have you opened the engine? How do you know there is no sludge? Well, if you are sure then go ahead with the recommended fluid.

You didn't understand my point.

Be sure there is no sludge before using full synthetic oil to avoid engine damage. You can do same by checking through the sump or engine oil cap
