Cristiano Ronaldo missing in 2022 team of the year [Full list] Cristiano Ronaldo is the biggest casualty as the French daily newspaper L’Equipe named their team of the year. The Portugal captain is the biggest absentee from the XI following his difficult calendar year with Manchester United and Portugal. To many people, it’s not surprising to see him omitted from the dream lineup following his irregularity in the Red Devils set-up under Erik ten Hag. Ronaldo scored just three goals for the Red Devils in 16 matches before his contract was terminated last month. Moreover, Ronaldo endured a torrid campaign at the just concluded Qatar 2022 World Cup and could not stop Portugal from being knocked out in the quarter-finals by Morocco. The five-time Ballon d’Or winner left the pitch in tears and is now waiting to sort out his next move in the January transfer window. In the team are: Courtois Walker Gvardiol T. Hmm, all because he lost the quarter final match to Morocco, such is life. The same treatment would have been meted out to Messi if he hadn't progressed beyond semi final. |

When all your work on the pitch revolves around scoring, you are always bound to be a flop when the goal stops coming.. Can't successfully dribble past one player Can't make a defense splitting pass Can't assist a goal Can't creat a chance.. And you want to be compared to Messi who does all these things successfully.. Messi's goal per game is higher than Ronaldo's (you can check online if you're in doubt). So, what else would one use as yardstick to judge their competence? In assists, Messi surpasses Ronaldo. I just hope Ronaldo will not battle depression this year. This is getting too much for one person. I think it's time for him to discard ppl like Piers Morgan and others still deceiving him telling him he's the best and all that. And his fans too are not helping matters, he keeps seeing messages of ppl telling him on social media platforms that he's the best n all that so he's confused and not in touch with reality that his game has gone down. He still thinks he's on d same level with Messi not even knowing that he and MESSI are never on the same level. It's very clear to an average football fan. And besides, I don't even think d new car from Georgina will do much to make him feel better. He should just focus more on his family right now and try to accept reality. |
