One thing he didn't realize is that the Ukrainians have been preparing for this war since 2014 when Crimea was taken. They knew he would want to use Donbass as an excuse to oust the government in Ukraine and install a puppet. Putin belongs to the old school of Soviet imperialism. His aim is to restore the long lost Soviet Union in some ways. But the world has moved on. It is just like America not winning in Vietnam, Iraq and Afghanistan. The world has changed and these are very nationalistic people they're up against.

Stats are done by Nigeria or Kenya gov. You can decide to count them as rich if you want. What most people are interested are cashflow. You can own 1,000 acres but if you're producing nothing - someone in US using his credit card to make purchases daily - is definitely richer than you. Africa can be asset rich but income poor.

Most analysis is focused on income and expenditure...rarely on assets. Cashflow/money supply/velocity = Economic activity.

Africa is definitely resource rich - btw DRC and Nigeria - they have maybe 50 trillion of natural resources - but until they are harnessed - they remain assets or potential.
