BBC world service was the most popular thing educated Nigerians listened to from the 60s to the mid 90s. And Times, Newsweek and Economist were popular here. I can post you pictures of my own pile of old economist mags and others. I still keep a few at least.

Great memories. Good.I read from 1960s.My father was like me a ferocious reader.He had entire room full of books and magazines. He lost most in 1989.Moi police raided our home looking for seditious magazines. My dad was in imprisoned meanwhile. There was crackdown in Kenya over something called mwakenya ..this was aftermath of Raila 1982 aborted coup when kenya became police state as response.Anyway after they searched they found nothing incrementing. As soon the police left my mother ordered all books buried in pit laterine.My dad was released after a weekend. He managed to save some.In early 1990s I discovered a ceiling route to the room...I would lock myself reading until my brother discovered me.They saw money in tonnes of newspapers...and they slowly carted them away to local butcheries to used to cover meat.By time my father discovered it..lots was gone.They of course said its was me..my father from that day...gave me new newspapers and magazines...I was 10yrs.He would read then pass to me underlining sections he thought were important. I WOULD STILL SNEAK TO READ OLD STUFF
