Nyc one. But catalytic converter does not reduce fuel consumption

Sounds like you want to be sure if Catalyst converter reduces car fuel consumption. Yes, it does to a great extent. Now you are sure that it does. If you still not satisfied, ask any auto mechanic around you. Thank you.

a missing catalytic converter will not result in negative fuel consumption 'to a great extent'

Oga I'm 100 percent sure of what I'm saying. Catalytic converter has nothing to do with fuel consumption. Its absolutely ridiculous asking an educated man like me to go and ask an uneducated kazeem about catalytic converter.

Fuel combustion process in engine starts and take place from the air intake manifold, air filter, injector, (nozzles) , plugs down to the combustion chamber and after the combustion process the waste products goes down to the catalyst, get filtered of toxic gasses before getting discharged through the exhaust .
SO SINCE ALL THE COMBUSTIONPROCESS HAPPENS AT THE COMBUSTION CHAMBER BEFORE GETTING TO THE CATALYST HOW THEN WILL ABSENCE OF CATALYST CAUSE HIGH FUEL CONSUMPTION as they do tell you? Dont be deceived, the presence of catalytic converter does not save fuel.

Let's not forget the topic of discussion. Which is on how to prevent Catalyst theft and not whether it reduces fuel consumption or not.

But basically, Catalyst converters as we all know are not meant to reduce fuel consumption but to reduce motor vehicles carbon emissions in the atmosphere.

However, I never knew this is an arguable topic. But anyways some are of the opinion that it doesn't and some says it does.

Below are some people's opinions in quotes:

"...Yes, catalytic converters indirectly reduce fuel consumption. For catalytic converters to work properly they require (as in MUST have) a precise balance of fuel and air called a Stoichiometric ratio. (Green line below) In a gasoline this means 14.7:1 by mass. (Air mass: Fuel mass). This is the ratio that yields the best (lowest) emissions result.

The best fuel economy ratio is about 16.1/16.2:1, a “lean” mixture that would take you much farther on a gallon of gas. (Purple line below)

Unfortunately Oxides of Nitrogen “NOx”, which enjoy a fairly low value with a properly fed catalytic converter, triple when the engine is tuned for maximum economy".

"...No no that’s no it design it to convert H’2 to water So H2O

so that way you get steam out your exhaust.

Carbon C and adds Oxygen “0” to make CO2

Its also take NOx particles and takes the Oxide our the equeintal to make Nx gases. Though yet if they are working efficiently you should reduced you fuel consumption, a lot fuel gets waste as heat like 85% it. Mine you Toyota Hybird engine are yo to 40% energy effiecent. That’s still 60% wasted fuel Engery".

"...Yes, assuming the engine is properly tuned for it you should actually see an increase in fuel economy. Even without a tune most vehicles will notice an increase in both fuel economy AND performance, it’s just the nature of emissions equipment, no benefit to the consumer unless the consumer wants to help the environment."
