Insecurity In The South East? My Village Was Filled With Christmas Returnees by gidgiddy(op): 12:24am On Jan 03, 2023
Nigeria is one of the most terrorised countries in the world and it doesn't surprise anyone that insecurity is the order of the day in many places

For the South East, my village in Anambra was bubbling with Christmas returnees from far and wide from the 22nd I travelled until to today I returned

If my village was a reflection of what happened in other places in the South East, then the much talked about South East insecurity is no where as serious as some online miscreants make it to be

CHRISTMAS: Kidnappers, gunmen scare Igbos away from southeast villages

December 31, 2022

By Vincent Ujumadu, Chidi Nkwopara and Steve Oko

THE growing insecurity in the South East has made this year’s Christmas very uneventful in many communities. Although many people were eager to come home to celebrate with their people, their relations were even the ones that discouraged them.

In fact, almost 90 of those who returned to Nigeria from abroad for Christmas could not travel to their villages in the South East because of insecurity. People are indeed afraid of going home because of the menace of kidnappers and gunmen operating in the zone. One of the people who came back from Europe and hoping to travel to the East had to shelve the idea and had to spend the period in Lagos.

In a video he made apparently out of frustration, he said: “ Almost 90% of those who returned to Nigeria from abroad for Christmas could not travel to their villages in the South East because of insecurity. The foreign currencies they would have spent with their people are being spent in Lagos hotels. Their village people are even coming to Lagos to see them.

“All these are happening because the people of South East do not want to listen and the ultimate losers are the poor people in the villages. As a result of this ugly development, the economy of South East is going down the drains. As it stands, everything in the South East is in shambles. The Christmas celebration in the South East is total rubbish because people are afraid to go home. It is the people that invited this calamity on themselves and blaming outsiders for their woes”.

Don't mind ndi uchu, one of my business associates travelled to mbaise, Imo state with his entire family from Abuja for the first time in 2 years.
I was shocked by his decision given that he is all these One Nigeria believers.
If I wasn't held back by pressing issues abroad, I would have been concluding some festivities in anambra right now.

Afonja your tears are just beginning, believe me.

You’re IPOB, so why should IPOB terrorists attack your family again?

It’s just like Boko Haram member celebrating that Boko Haram do not attack their family.

I just hope millions of other innocent Ibos can celebrate peace for their family like this. Just today alone, almost 5 people have been killed by IPOB terrorists and that’s what made it to the media.

I don’t know what you want.

—I then said there is NO insecurity in the SE, you’re still bitter.

What do you really want?

You must stop calling IPOB a terrorist group. There's violence and insecurity everywhere in Nigeria with most of the perpetrators being state backed groups yet hate filled entities like you still prefer to push all the accusations on IPOB.
You must learn to be properly guided.

IPOB is a terrorist group. They are group of criminals, terrorists, and killers.

Anyone supporting IPOB terrorists at this stage is a criminal like them and a potential terrorist.

OP, you really disappointed some people today with this your report and believe me the enemies are not happy. They were expecting you to report how you ran away from your village when the so called attackers came to visit. Watch as they will begin to shed tears. These are people who sit back in their villages over hundreds of kilometers away and conjure fake stories about how Igboland has been deserted. Igboland would continue to disappoint them. We are a blessed people. The enemies would wish us evil but we shall always soar high.

Nothing, I repeat, NOTHING can ever make Igbo stop going home for Christmas.
Haters will keep hating but Igboland will remain the most vibrant in Nigeria.

Millions of igbo people are currently under a brutal terrorist-enforced sit-at-home occupation so what other igbo experience are you talking about?

Igboland is full of ESN, UGM, Auto Pilot and other terrorist camps and not a single igbo man, woman, child, politician or traditional ruler, even the military and law enforcement and government institutions are immune from daily killings, kidnappings, burning and destruction.
Ohakim is just the latest victim of the madness and insanity ravaging the whole of SE.

The SEE is the only place on the surface of the earth where the entire population are mandated to sit at home and where the citizen's right to freedom of movement, freedom of association and choice are taken away by terrorists.

Do you people really don't know what is going on in the SE or you are just hopelessly delusional?

This one is not from the South East, probably never even been there, but will be fighting to tell us Igbos that he knows more what is going on in the South East more than us

As insecure as Nigeria is, he only remembers there is insecurity in Nigeria if it has to do with the South East

My village was bubbling with people who returned from the 4 corners of the world to celebrate Christmas. Im back in Enugu and the city is deserted as millions of Igbos returned to their villages to celebrate Christmas and New year hols

But this one wants the whole world to believe that a few pockets of violence here and there is what turned the South East into Afghanistan

Too many mischief makers on Nairaland
