Greetings everyone I'm a student living of camp.
My rent expired April during the strike and after strike, I resumed November and payed up even with serious increment in rent price but the landlord has refused to give me receipt for when I payed.
Is this wrong?
And which date should the receipt carry?

The receipt is the only evidence that you've paid Incase of any eventuality.

I don't know why he doesn't want to you the receipt, I hope he's not a bad person

We're u given any receipt when u made ur first payment to him? If yes, then u have every reasons to worry, but if he never gave to u from day one, then it means that he doesn't have any... (just like my current house, no receipt)

If it is transfer you made, just keep the transfer receipt. That's your evidence. You can even print it out and give him a copy.

I first deposited in the bank to his account and when I was notified of the increment in the rent I completed the remaining by transfer.

I belief the bank gave you teller. Just photocopy the two receipts and keep them handy.

yes ma, not just me, but all the tenants (though my own payment is usually via internet banking.. And we've never had any problem for once)

Yes I was tendered receipt and a tenant agreement form to sign.
It's my first time renting a place, reason I'm being inquisitive.

I didn't want to ask for it initially but the security guy told me my rent will expire April even after paying last year November, when I'm not a ritualist.
It's 170k we're talking about.

U have to apply wisdom here, if he had not given u at first, there wouldn't have been any form of suspiciousness, if u have his direct phone number, send him a message asking him for ur receipt..

Lastly, hope it was not cash payment u gave to him?..

I learnt bitter lessons last year... Make sure ur proof of payment is intact....

U can call him, make sure the phone is on record while u ask for ur receipt..

Our side here in Nasarawa, it's not usually an issue.. Many landlords don't even have receipts... It's just for u to know when the payment will be due.. That's all... And we've never had any problem for once.

Nah this kind thing i dey like ;
Make sure u don't pay your landlord cash, make sure it's bank transfer so I have evidence, wether receipt or not I no send, I easily print out the transaction log of the debit alert from the transfer I made to the landlord and am good

Let him come and tell me rubbish tomorrow and I will easily show him transfer evidence of payment, I no get time to do landlord-tenant Arguments
