Obaaderemi2:The only reason Dangote and BUA are not even amongst top ten is because alongside NNPC they fund road constructions in the PPP arrangement. I think MTN only responsible for Enugu-Onitsha road. Glo also one road. If that weren't the case, Dangote and BUA are also amongst top ten tax payers alongside MTN and Airtel. Then there is Zenith Bank, very big tax payer as well. |

Obaderemi2, Shaytun, 68816419, and anyone else: These were Tinubu's thoughts and criticism on the Nigerian Economy 10 years ago ( March 8, 2013) in one of his birthday colloquium. FORMER Lagos State Governor, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, yesterday, dissected Nigeria’s economy and declared that the country was operating a voodoo economic policy that is pauperising the citizenry and urged urgent economic surgery to save the polity. For instance, Tinubu wondered why the Federal Government is maintaining a foreign reserve of $46 billion with one or two per cent interest and shouldering a load of $42 billion domestic debt, which it services with 16 per cent interest. “This is voodoo economy,” he said, adding, “they are operating it because they don’t know what to do. It is choking the private sector. “We must in this country do away with the idea of ‘it is better save the money and spend the people.’ Rather I will say we should adopt the policy of ‘it is better to save the people and spend the fund.’ ”We must reform our philosophy about economic development. First, we must reform the financial sector so that it becomes an effective artery that sends funds to the heart of the real sector. The Federal Government must formulate a national industrial policy that would focus on developing labour-intensive industries.” Your thoughts and honest criticisms/support? https://www.vanguardngr.com/2013/03/nigeria-operating-voodoo-economy-tinubu/ |

GeneralDae2:The man is very brilliant. He knows what to do and he has idealistic people around him. I'm sure he'll be 1000times better than that kunu drinking lazy one called Buhari. This thing he said is akin to what Franklin Roosevelt did to lift America out of the great depression of the 30s. Roosevelt said the solution was for America to spend itself out of poverty and depression. He put money into the real sector and America has not looked back since. |

Obaaderemi2:Stop throwing names.Keynesian models are well studied. YOU NEED COMMON SENSE IN NIGERIA. FIX forex controls and you won't need to keep lots of forex reserves. You only need four months worth of imports. That is about 32b.So TINUBU is exaggerating the extra forex you keep if import bill is 80b..if its 60billion..you need 24b..at minimum |
| Re: Kenyans Are Far Behind Nigerians In Every Aspect – Fani-Kayode by GeneralDae2: 8:32am On Jan 07, 2023 |
Mkenya2019:You just read something from Nigerian media and you don't understand. When they say NNPC doesn't make dividends, it's almost like saying the Nigerian Government doesnt show dividends to the public after paying herself and doing everything. NNPC has always been an instrument of the Nigerian Government right from the 1970's making all her money for corrupt Government, boosting reserves with billions of dollars yearly but either declaring losses or not even declaring profits or dividends to the public the way a normal company should. It was ran like a big corrupt entity, just financing the Nigerian Government only (and making losses) until now, and even now, it is not yet fully commercialised and still corrupt. However, Buhari has signed a bill in 2021, that would eventually see it operate like a fully commercialised entity listed on the Nigerian stock exchange (June 2023). |

Mkenya2019:That's why I said there's no reinvention of the wheel in the case. But I guess you are just hearing about the Keynesian economics and Roosevelt's idea. Because your forex reserve is always low doesn't mean it has to be the same for everyone. Oil and other commodities exporters need high forex reserve because like in the case of Nigeria price of oil might drop significantly and if we don't have good level of forex reserve, that could hurt the currency and economy more seriously than it does. In fact China has about $3tr of forex reserve. You might want to advise them to reduce it like Kenya, olodo. ![]() |

Obaaderemi2:Government shareholding is what matters. Vodafone is a multifaced org owned by different entities. Thus say, allow me to update your low memory capacity. Again, the government shareholding matters. KE govnt owns 35%_ 14B to 15B _which is a direct ticket to ownership. local shareholders are more than 20%_ meaning Kenya consumes pretty much 60% of the total shareholding. If your Government was owning 30% of MTN, then MTN would be a Nigerian entity. Government shareholding is paramount - YOU SHOULD KNOW THAT. |

Again Keynesian or Roosevelt not what you're looking for. You're looking for free market - capitalism - demand and supply magic. You forex problems is down to the decision to have many windows of exchange rates including black market one that is double the official rate. The solution is simple. Freely float Naira. Stop subsidizing a few fat cats with official rate or allowing them to become billionaires via arbitratage. Once you freely float Naira... Naira will weaken or strength based on it's fundamentals. The real value of USD/Naira/ Euro/Naira will be determined by the market. Forex will flow in and out like nobody business. It will stop being a issue - for importers or exporters or nigerians. Kenya did it. Ghana did it. Almost all Africa countries have done it except Nigeria led by criminal stupid gangs. The fear that Naira will weaken so much is most likely unfounded. Freely float Naira and watch it. If you elect Peter Obi - you'll have made huge step forward. He is only one who knows what ail Nigeria. I dont pray but I will try to pray you elect Peter Obi. It such a shame to have a country like Nigeria or DRC being poor. Obaaderemi2: |
