The Vice Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Lagos State and leader of the party in Lagos East Senatorial District, Otunba Amid Adekunle Oduborisha, has dumped the party as he joined the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) at a rally in the Ikorodu area of the state yesterday. Oduborisha and his AMIKO group were formally received into the APC at the flag-off ceremony of the campaign of Hon. Babajimi Adegoke Benson, a representative of the Ikorodu Federal Constituency who is seeking re-election.

Benson who was received by a mammoth crowd at the event held at the Ikorodu Ferry Terminal, urged the people of Ikorodu to continue to keep faith with the APC. He called on them to vote massively for all the party’s candidates in the 2023 general elections, from the presidential candidate Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Governor Babajide Sanwoolu, Senator Tokuboh Abiru, himself and the House of Assembly candidate, Gbolahan Ogunleye, during the elections.


Speaking at the rally that was attended by prominent party leaders from across the state, Oduborisha confirmed his defection and explained that he is in the APC to contribute his quota to the presidential ambition of Asiwaju Tinubu. “Yes, I am returning to the APC and not decamping like others. This is where I belong and I am coming back home. It is indeed my re-integration into the APC. I am here to ensure the victory of Asiwaju Tinubu and all other APC candidates. Hon. Benson has given me reasons to believe in APC again with his performance. He has shown what it is to use the mandate of the people for the people effectively. The people of Ikorodu are blessed to have Jimi Benson and I am happy to be here today,” he said.


Speakers at the event which had Fuji maestro, Wasiu Ayinde (K1) on the bandstand, eulogized Benson as they recall the many democratic dividends he attracted to the constituency since his emergence as the representative of the people. Mentions were made of his monthly ‘Mercy Bag’ distribution which is the first ever Food Bank in Nigeria, the numerous infrastructure interventions all over Ikorodu and his many legislative efforts on the floor of the lower chamber. “JB is an unusual lawmaker. He listens to the people and go out of his way to ensure he pleases them,” Hon. Sesan Daini, Chairman of Igbogbo/Baiyeku LCDA, said.

Looking at Tinubus antecedent, He's someone you can trust...The hatred from a particular set of people is what really endeared me and many people to Tinubu...I used to be indifferent before..But because of the hatred, I had to transfer my voters card from Enugu to Kaduna state where I live presently all for Asiwaju.... And here in Kaduna, El rufai is in firm control.PDP is jittery Nigeria will rise again by Gods grace.Amen

I swear to God ulmighty i was also indifferent in this election previously. The level of hatred and bitterness from a particular region makes me have a change of mind

I will not only vote for Tinubu. I had to convince my family and friends to get their PVC and make sure they all vote for JAGABAN

You've made a good choice and May God bless you for it...As an elder that Tinubu is, though I'm not a politician,there are things I've learnt from him..Like he doesn't distracted once he sets his eyes on something, He always give his enemies opportunity to still come back and work together, He's a great leader..

They do not have to decamp to Labour party. Majority of Peter Obi's supporters today are not card carrying member of Labour. We don't care about una useless party structures.

Obasanjo endorsed Obi without being a member of Labour. Afenifere did the same thing without anyone signing up for Labour. 75% of the people on Peter Obi's PCC are not card carrying members of the Labour Party.

Governor Ortom declared his support for Obi without leaving PDP. More Nigerians and politicians would do same in the coming days without decamping.
