The Kebbi State Police Command has arrested a man identified as Zayyanu Abubakar, alias Chinnaka, for raping an 8-year-old girl in Wasagu, Danko-Wasagu Local Government Area of the state, IGBERETV reports.

Spokesman of the command, SP Nafi’u Abubakar, disclosed this in a statement issued in Birnin Kebbi on Thursday, January 19, 2023.

He said that on January 7, at about 4:00pm the father of the girl reported the matter to the Divisional Police Headquarters, Wasagu.

According to the PPRO, the complaint informed the police that the suspect, who lives in Masallaci area of Wasagu, at about 1:00p.m, allegedly raped his daughter, aged eight years.

He said the father alleged that the suspect took the girl into an uncompleted building, threatened to kill her with a knife, ate her fried grasshopper worth N2,500 and forcefully had sexual intercourse with her. The police spokesperson said the suspect had been arrested and transferred to Criminal Investigation Department for further investigation and prosecution.
