and I'm sure their quotations were not scrutinized back in the day. If you told a client it's 16mm rods that is required he has no authority to argue. Look at the pyramid of Egypt, built with so much precision and accuracy because it was slaves working then and they knew the implication if they get cute on the job. Thousands of workers were exercuted to out fear into the others and compel the to do the right thing. The only question then was if you are qualified for it compared to today where a client tells you that baba suliat has built 4 girls hostels and has 20years experience in construction. Brace yourself up for more building collapse in the future, we are even lucky today there are more safety implementations so on an eventual building collapse it will be 10-15 persons dying because back in the day when a stone weighed as much as 80kg, a whole lineage was wiped out in a single catastrophe.

Also, he explained that block is not required in the quote because the type of soak away being done are the casted ones which would be sunk because of the topography of the area.

Concrete Septic Tank system is always costly to erected. I can't say the Quotations is outrageous but you can talk to him to beat down the materials and workmanship fees.

I just asked for a standard soakaway to carry sometimes a stationary car and human walkabout.

I used 16mm in some of the septic tanks that I did in the past because the spaces also serve as car park. Not sure of the exact quantities of the materials because they were side jobs while the main buildings were being built. Buy your materials yourself and pls don’t suggest lesser materials. A poorly built septic tank/soak away is a disaster waiting to happen.

The improvement I will make will include closing off the toilet door to the living room and place the door in the entry pouch. So visitors access the VT from the entry pouch. I've seen this done. This will mean doing a floor to ceiling burglary proof in the entry pouch to prevent unauthorised access to the VT.

Yes you're right.

If one or both doors open indoors, then not much an issue.

And I don't envisage much traffic in that lobby.
