Nigeria's problem is that we think that we can pay N10 for something that costs N100, which means that government has to take a loan to pay the remaining N90...but can only get one that pays N50 , leaving N40.

Then we cry we have poor service.

I recall someone saying that we should vote wisely for Obi because his pharmacist friend died of no light. We don't have light because the government forces the power companies to charge below what it costs to produce one kwh of power, and because 30-40% of us do not pay for power. If Obi came into power, and allowed discos to charge cost reflective tariffs, and started sending police after bill defaulters, would you guys clap for him...or curse him as an oppressor.

That is why no one can change Nigeria. Until we realise that things cost money, and that we cannot pretend that everything is cheap, before our economy works properly.


That is why Ijust dey siddon look at obidents, and tinubu people and atklulites as people of the same cloth.

If people earn well, they won't want to pay 10 naira for what costs 100 naira.
Nigeria has abundance of natural, mineral and human resources. Why should Nigerians be suffering lack in the midst of abundance? Let petrol cost 900 naira per litre. If minimum wage in Nigeria is 100 thousand naira, people will buy fuel easily without complaining about the price.

We are not earning well, because our desire to pay N10 for something that costs N100 is scaring away investors, and hindering our earning power.

Also, I want us to earn high minimum wage. But when we are not earning what we should be earning because of our poor tax to gdp ratio, and because we rely on something that at best gives us one third of what we actually need....there is no way government can afford a miniumm wage of 100000 naira. Even if we stopped looting and corruption.

(If you want a minimum wage of 100000 naira, government would end up printing naira notes, while borrowing dollars to pay for it. All this will cause inflation down the road, and high debt. You want that?)


Sane countries can afford high minimum wages because it is what people put into the system that enables that. And it is not for love of country that people pay high taxes in sane countries...it is because you will have the law harrasing you if you refuse to pay tax.

If you are a father and you earn 30k per month, how much will you want to pay for fuel, if you have a wife and two kids to feed and utility bills to pay?

See, Nigeria needs side hustle. Oil is our main income stream. We need other streams like tax and investment

And investment will come if we stop.thinking like you do that 10 naira can buy something that costs 100 naira.
