Concubines are most times older than side chicks.

Wives at home many times are always aware of the existence of concubines while the existence of side chicks are always kept away from the knowledge of the wives at home

Concubine knows her place in the life of a man, and she has come to terms that she can't be the main wife. She accepts it with her full chest that she's the spare wife.
But a sidechic doesn't know her position. Many sidechics today feel that they are the main chic, the few who are aware of their positions, always want to overthrown the main chic.

Meanwhile concubine is the upgraded version of sidechic.

Concubine are official ,they perform wife duties and are well catered for like wife's and are well known to the family of the man,they enjoy the privileges and benefits that wife's enjoy,they are not secret affairs,while side-chicks are secret affairs that are needed to satisfy the whims and desires of the man.
