Wrong comparison, Audi was on the ballot and an election was taking place, infact, he was in course to win.

You know why he did that then ? ...he wanted to buy the party, he was given the upper hand ( privilege) to buy the party when the likes of Atiku , Sarika and the rest fled the party to APC and abroad ... One of the reasons the donations both in cash and buses was coming from him. But looking at the shape of the party now he can't dabble into every state party power tussle, he is trying not to miss out at both end that's why there's no one he has openly supported or campaign for.

Ikonne died a month before the election hence, a new primary election will be conducted

It's a different scenario. Audu already won election before he died. You can't invalidate a general election because a contestant died. And then, he was yet to be sworn in, so his deputy can't claim the victory. In this case, election is not done yet and Uche have not won. A new candidate must emerge either by election or consensus.

The constitution made provisions for a situation where a gov-Elect dies , his deputy-elect will be sworn in as Gov.

But there was no provision then incase a Gov candidate dies in the day of the election, which is the case of Audu. He's leading but haven't won the election at the time of his dead

But the system is too corrupt, politics in Nigeria is a money making venture, politicians are not there to serve the people but their pockets.

Now every candidate both old and new contestants has to purchase a new form that will cost millions of Naira that could have been used by the party to support their existing candidate.

PD-APC are all the same.

You should have asked yourself first, what the constitution says when a candidate died before an election. You can just wake up and take decision in a situation like this, your opponent can easily use it against you.

I was going to say the same but i think that should happen if the candidate died after winning the general election (e.g. Yaradua/Jonathan & kogi 2015) but APC failed to do so in 2015.

a) The deputy is normally handpicked after the primaries and hence not the people's voting choice.

b) Zoning; the deputy candidate may be coming from the same zone as the incumbent or another zone that balances the equation instead of the zone the party or the states citizens wishes to currently cede the seat to.

Therefore, a fresh primary is needed to resolve any lapses before elections. But after general elections the ticket has been claimed. The deputy and principal shall become one. They both get sacked (Lyon in Bayelsa and Ihedioha in Imo) while Deputy takes over if principal is impeached or incapacited. No outsider comes to usurp like what APC/Yahaya Bello did 2015.
