JUST IN: The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has extended the deadline for the use of the old notes till February 10. Governor of the CBN, Godwin Emefiele, announced the extension in a statement signed on Sunday.

The Central Bank of Nigeria has finally extended the deadline for the exchange of old naira notes by 10 days.

In a press statement issued on Sunday, Godwin Emefiele, the CBN governor, said the new deadline is February 10, 2023.

I saw this coming. If not for this extension, the coming week would be very chaotic. The FG may not be able to handle the fallout. The policy is really hurting Buhari's rep particularly in the North at the moment, which was why Atiku tried to ride on it some days ago.

There is a sense here, Buhari and the CBN Governor knew that the deadline wouldn't ne possible but it make some people more careful in collecting the old naira from corrupt politicians.

No doubt, CBN and the deposit Banks handled the circulation of the new notes poorly..

It was a poorly executed policy..hope they have the ample time to fulfill their part of ensuring uniform circulation of the new notes.

Everything clearly shows their are saboteurs and hoarders of the new notes...or how do you explain huge cash at the hands of money traders at social functions..where did they get new notes from

Why are POS operators charging as high as #100 on every #1000 of new notes, if not because they got it from banks at higher rates

These are technical issues CBN and the Banks CEO should address in the coming days.
