He went to make peace with them. He said he paid for the damages what again should he do? I have been in a similar situation like that. I bought some land in the east paid the family and everything. As I started fencing next thing some niggers came with matchet and stuff, I was like there's no omonile in igbo land so whats happening Next the guy started explaining that whom i bought the land from wasn't supposed to sell they are the real owners, man many. If I confront a theif and he choose to attack me. You expect me to run? Or I try to detain him till arrival of vigilantee and he refuse. I will mess him up and nothing will happen. I will just trý to get video or audio evidence.

I am going to be very objective here. You see, this is a prototype of the Farmers-Herders crisis in Nigeria. It could get worse than it is now if the OP goes the way of the violent people calling him a weakling here (that's what makes fulani herdsmen burn down whole villages, shooting anyone in sight) or, if the villagers go from killing a few animals to destroying everything on the farm, including human lives.

A crop farm is an investment as much as an animal farm. No one will happily watch his/her efforts wasted for another to grow. It was very insensitive and selfish of the OP to trivialise the grazing of his animals on the villagers' farms, destroying their efforts. Imagine the way he described how his goats enjoy eating cassava leaves! Someone's efforts! It was also wrong for the villagers to take the laws into their hands the way they did. Probably they didn't have confidence in the law enforcement agents?

This is the reason why wise governments prohibit open grazing of livestock; it's not only meant to restrain fulani herders (though they're the largest population involved in this kind of brouhaha). OP, if you had done this kind of thing in a state where there is Anti-Open Grazing Law, you'd be in prison already or paying huge fines.

Ranch your animals properly. Provide their feed. Never let your animals destroy anybody's farm; it's not easy to farm. Lastly, sheath your sword drawn against the villagers, it's a fight you can't win. Rein in your animals and take care of them or shut down the animal farm and find something else to do on the plots of land.

Not everyone will be bruce lee, secondly everywhere around the world the law on self defense is clear, you must present proof beyond reasonable doubt that the case of whatever assault or death caused is as a result of self defense..lets assume he struck the perpetrator to death,how does he prove that its self defense.its the wee hours of the morning, its an open farm, the dead had no weapons, the killer has no marks or witnesses. Police will just assume murder that was premeditated as a result of the earlier land dispute, it will even be worse if no one in that community likes the op..
