Policemen Disarmed By Gunmen Cry Out Over Prolonged Detention by insidelife22(m): 5:25pm On Feb 01, 2023

Police officers who were attacked, wounded and disarmed by unknown gunmen have raised the alarm over their continued detention for about five months without trial.

They spoke through their Counsel, Barrister Godwin Onwusi in a petition to the Inspector General of Police, through the A.I.G, Force C.I.D Annex, Enugu.

The petition, entitled: “Request/Petition For You To cause An Investigation Into the Long Unexplained and Unconstitutional Detention of The Under listed Police Officers By The Abia State Police Command”, was made available to DAILY POST on Wednesday.

Onwusi disclosed that Inspector Ubakwem Udoka, Inspector Sunday Alhamadu and Sgt. Udeogu Chidi were sometime in September 2022 attacked from behind, wounded and disarmed by unknown gunmen while they were at their barricade duty post, opposite the State CID, Umuahia.

He noted that they sustained serious injuries during the attack, while the attackers took away their arms, adding that since their detention, they have not been briefed on why they are being detained for that long, stating that the situation could discourage or demoralize other officers and men of the Nigeria Police Force.

Onwusi pointed out that the officers have not also been charged to court, neither were they being paid salaries since then, noting that the development had brought untold hardship to the families of the officers who are dependent on the salaries of the officers.

He called on the authorities of the police to use their good offices to look into the case of the officers with a view to either releasing them, having kept them in detention for so long.

Onwusi, in the petition, copied to the Police Service Commission, disclosed that they have instruction of their clients to proceed legally to enforce the fundamental rights of the officers.

That’s a sad experience.

May we and our close ones never fall into the hands of these criminal kidnappers. Amen.

.........attacked from behind, wounded and disarmed by unknown gunmen while they were at their barricade duty post, opposite the State CID, Umuahia....
They were attacked from behind at their barricade duty post POS shop....

If this happened opposite the state CID office/headquarters at Umuahia and no reaction or words from the commander... Then there's something wrong somewhere...
The policemen are being treated same way innocent Nigerians in their custody are been treated on a daily...

I know their detention is lawful but I would suggest they are shown mercy & released as soon as possible. Currently, none is oblivious of the evil the UGM mete out on Police in the SE. I hope NPF would do the needful before the same men of the underworld come to their rescue & induct them into terrorism.

cheesy

I've seen the names of the police officers and trust me they won't do same if the names were Mohammed, Abdullfatah, Ahmed and other similar names from the northern region.

the same people arming the police from Europe, are also arming the police, to ensure they both keep killing each other till the population of the country is reduced.
In Haiti the police are currently on strike after 14 police officers were shot dead by gangs that they know have support in high places.

This is the standard European practice in all the places where black people live world wide, create multiple armed groups and a very desperate life so that all the black people can shoot each other dead.

Its same Europeans arming the police and those shooting the police, and its long suffering african mothers that are using thier blood to give birth to both sides the Europeans are arming to kill each other.

Assuming you guys died, they wouldn't have detained your corpses naa. It's always good to sometimes have a taste of your own medicine. I dedicate this detention to all the innocent Nigerian youths suffering similar unjust detention in the hands of the Nigerian police, hope you get justice
