Stop deceiving yourself, your deception cannot fly here. Someone posted Owerri video here and I will repost it for you to watch. Owerri in its entirety is a HUGE SLUM. There's no basis to compare a village like Owerri to Awka. Can we compare the flyovers or the overall roads. Most roads in Owerri are dilapidated despite the government concentration. Owerri doesn't have a decent signature infrastructure that marks a city like Awka. Owerri doesn't have decent even center like Awka. Is not even as big as Awka. Owerri is the worst state capital in southern Nigeria. Please watch this video and stop deceiving yourself

Kudos, I wish every other PRO Establishment will argue rationally/make submissions like you without cursing. The difference between the cities you mentioned and Awka is that unlike those cities, the entirety of Awka is, no exception(maybe AMI that is privately funded with Land as equity contribution from Anambra government). I challenge you to tell any planned area in Awka. There are about 6 dual carriage ways terminating at Owerri and several interconnecting routes within the city, unlike Awka that has only Onitsha/Enugu expressway. Owerri development is radial and Awka is linear. BTW, I am from Awka and Soludo is just scratching the surface in Awka. He will demolish buildings, a lot of it to make Awka habitable

Also watch the upcoming Awka Millennium city, there's no where in SE with such planned development with covered gutters and sidewalks.

Not holding brief for anyone but I watched that video and I can tell you even in Abuja I saw similar thing not to talk of other SE or southern cities.

You said you bought property, where in Awka? Did you buy at Ngozika or Udoka or Abuja estate or Efab, etc, I list over a 100 well planned estates in Awka, or did you even bought at Awka Millennium city?

Even Lagos with Banana island still has makoko, etc, why are you people down here always emotionally inclined. I was in Enugu recently and I saw worse things at Asata, Obiagu, Ogui, etc. Owerri is a mess, I don't wanna discuss that here. Let's be unbiased when making some posts.

My brother,

My property is at Ngozika extension. The place now called Smith City layout. Just before the Dubai estate. I even used a nairalander to fence it and install gate on the property. I say this so that you know I'm not making this up. I know exactly what has prevented many of us abroad from building in Awka. Many have bought land in Enugu Heliu estate or fully built homes in other estates. Some of those individuals are here in this forum too. Yes, AMC is excellent if you can afford it.

We MUST generally up our game in making Anambra cities what they ought to be. Those who take offense when we are trying to improve our state are mistaken in what it takes to get things right. I don't think any good Anambra person will be offended that we are holding our leaders responsible to fix our homeland. Instead of the honestly silly mindset of trying to defend these issues so that other equally silly citizens of other states would not mock us. They can mock, we know we are still better. We just want to be the best PERIOD.

The highlighted part settles it. Now going back to your property, it is not actually at Ngozika but an overspill extending towards Ebenebe, correct me I am wrong, but just like Ngozika and it's extensions are planned with tarred roads, those areas aren't yet tarred, hopefully by this administration infrastructural drive.

Like many people abroad, I advice them to buy from serviced areas like Udoka, Ngozika, Awka Millennium, Efab, Dubai estate, etc. Awka Millennium city has been fully bought and they now have extension because of high demand.

If you have money go to Awka Millennium city 2 because AMC 1 is sold out.

Nwokem ka ibu nwanyi, you claimed to be from Oba , a town next to mine. During Obiano's tenure you were here and relentlessly propagated an incompetent government and deceived Ndi Anambra and Nigerias Obiano was the Messia, but today you couldn't muster the courage to condemn his failed government. Its despicable and it shows you have no integrity.

You , Oremi and CJrane celebrated Obiano like he was a savior and as soon as he left office and his misdeeds started coming to the surface you people bolted and now you are here using phrases like "previous government "....ina eli ogholi !

You people celebrated the ICC and airport he built with Obi's savings and abandoned greater Onicha project, Awka and Nnewi. Ifele ana emekwo unu ?

Are you not ashamed how our state capital Awka looks like Eke Umuoji.....are you not ashamed?
Shut up your stinking mouth Ezi. All your rants here is to paint Obiano bad not as if you care or know anything about Awka. A fool that has not stepped foot in Anambra since Peter Obi left office ranting like a mad dog. Atleast chimaadeoye and all those you mentioned have property in Awka, Anambra, oremi even documented her trip via Anambra Airport and is also developing his/her property in Awka, but a hopeless Fulani mad dog is here crying more than the bereaved. cheesy cheesy cheesy

Awka could have gone higher than it is today if your liar Obi invested in the town, and not in his Pandora accounts instead he was asking how much Awka generates in IGR, only to leave Obiano to start from scratch in developing the town

Awka is the fastest developing city in Nigeria, thanks to obianos Airport, ICC, stadium, health etc. that’s why real estate in Awka is higher than all SE state capitals unlike before. Awka looks like Eke umuoji but you can’t even afford a gate in any prime estate in the Eke umuoji. Mad man.

Do not waste your time arguing with these people, no critical thinkers.
When you point out something that is wrong and should be correct, they took it as an attack and start to tell you that you are not from Anambra, they forgot that most of us here bought a lot of properties in Anambra and other cities, all we want in Anambra is a befitting city we can be proud of, many of them cloning id here to start a fight with other SE cities just to tell you the kind of people we are dealing with. Anambra especially Awka is not develop, the little roads that r tarred is with full of sands, what will it cost a governor to buy few Mechanical street sweeper to keep them clean, mark the roads for christ sake, it helps to bring aesthetic on the road. All we care is to build houses like mad people everywhere, if government is serious, by now, a lot of houses should give way in awka. Our people do not listen, nobody want to do the right thing, its never too late to start correcting many wrong doings in Awka .

Anambra -Born Chika Okeke-Agulu, Resumes Duties at Oxford as Distinguished Professor

A leading Nigerian academic in the United States, Professor Chika Okeke-Agulu of Princeton University, has assumed duties at Oxford University, one of the oldest and most respected educational institutions in the world, as a distinguished professor.

Though announced last year as Slade Professor of Art for the 2023 academic session, Professor Okeke formally began teaching last week at the most prestigious British university established in 1096.

He is the first African to hold this position since the chair was endowed in 1870.

According to Oxford University, the chair of Slade Professor is “always a figure of international standing in the study of visual arts”.

This is a great honour to Nigeria and the African world, declares Toyin Falola, himself the preeminent of History at the University of Texas at Dallas.

“He consistently sets Nigeria on the path of global recognition for something good, and this is easily proven by his achievements over the course of his career”, says Falola about Okeke-Agulu who was just last year among the 85 outstanding scholars to become fellows of the highly revered British Academy, the United Kingdom’s national academy for the arts and social sciences.

The school valedictorian at the University of Nigeria at Nsukka some 29 years ago who went on to receive a doctoral degree in Art History from Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia, United States, Professor Okeke-Agulu has written globally acclaimed books on such distinguished African artists as El Anatsui, Obiora Udechukwu, Demas Nwoko, and Yusuf Grillo.

“Chika has helped to bring the works of these great men to the attention of the world and interpreted them in a most uncanny way”, notes Ndidi Dike, a top Nigerian sculptor and painter who also graduated from the same department as Professor Okeke-Agulu at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka.

“He is worth his weight in gold, and remains a great ambassador of Nigerian, nay African, people everywhere.”

Professor Okeke-Agulu hails from Umuoji in Idemili North Local Government Area of Anambra State.

Congratulations

Awka

Awka is not planned. Lets tell ourselves the truth. There are four areas in Awka.

OLD TOWN

There is the old town that sits on either side of Zik Avenue and stretches to the expressway on one side and the Ring road on the other. It lacks access roads which is why all traffic pushes out onto Zik Avenue or Works Road or the Ring Road and reaches congestion mania at the market which funnels hundreds of buses and keke to a place that is less than 4000 sqm in size.

NEW TOWN

There is the growing expansion of Awka towards Okpuno Okachi which sits on the other side of the expressway spanning Ngozika layout, Oby Okoli, Y junction and Nodu Okpuno. Purely residential with some modern commercial activity, Obi built a lot of roads that opened up the area, however, the failure of the government to build proper connecting roads means it is trending towards the scenario of the old town.

GOVERNMENT LAYOUT

There is the government area which encompasses Ekwueme Square, House of Assembly, High Court, ABS, Secretariat, Government House and the Ministry of Lands/immigration area. It has generally good road accessibility and it is low-density and close to the expressway.

IFITE TO SCHOOL GATE

Starting from the Arroma junction, the narrow Ifite road goes towards the back of UNIZIK school gate and while the upper part is marked by decent access the lower part towards the university is horrific in terms of accessibility and planning. It resembles Onitsha in the way buildings are built without regard to overall livability.

The government should concentrate its efforts on road construction in the New Town and IFITE to School Gate. These are fast growing areas where developers have to be controlled and infrastructure has to be put in place. The government should even pass into law an annual rental levy of all buildings in this area to fund proper road construction.

For the old town, the eke awka market needs to be relocated like yesterday and Zik Avenue recovered from the mania of street traders, barrow hawkers and commercial vehicles. Zik Avenue should be the modern face of Awka with modern retailing not primitive trading. Eke Awka should be relocated ASAP and the space zoned for something Awka could use like a City Hall. The government should also endeavour to wall off Nkwo Amaenyi from Zik Avenue.

Finally, there is a need to connect the old and new town better. The government should build two bridges between Amudo Rd and Ifite Rd and between Regina Caeli and Old INEC road. This would allow traffic to flow easily from Zik Avenue across the expressway.

Please stop quoting me with your tantrums. Awka is a well planned city with decent housing system, you should be the one telling yourself the truth. All the things you listed are even worse in other cities in the region and Nigeria at large. Awka has been leading in overall investments in real estate in the region. Good that Soludo is already turned the city into a construction site. Anambra shall continue to be the flagship state in the region

Mktinsight aka abuzz33 the useless night owl, even at 3am Nigerian time you are hovering on this thread like an evil spirit. Probably your sleeping pill has worn off.

Take this for your information, Awka is the best planned city in the entire igboland, you can deal with it or take a hike. Your opinion on what concerns Anambra is useless and worthless.

Also take note that Awka is the fastest developing city in Nigeria aside Abuja. Fact

abuzz33:
is not planned. Lets tell ourselves the truth. There are four areas in Awka.

OLD TOWN
here is the old town that sits on either side of Zik Avenue and stretches to the expressway on one side and the Ring road on the other. It lacks access roads which is why all traffic pushes out onto Zik Avenue or Works Road or the Ring Road and reaches congestion mania at the market which funnels hundreds of buses and keke to a place that is less than 4000 sqm in size.

NEW TOWN
here is the growing expansion of Awka towards Okpuno Okachi which sits on the other side of the expressway spanning Ngozika layout, Oby Okoli, Y junction and Nodu Okpuno. Purely residential with some modern commercial activity, Obi built a lot of roads that opened up the area, however, the failure of the government to build proper connecting roads means it is trending towards the scenario of the old town.

GOVERNMENT LAYOUTThere is the government area which encompasses Ekwueme Square, House of Assembly, High Court, ABS, Secretariat, Government House and the Ministry of Lands/immigration area. It has generally good road accessibility and it is low-density and close to the expressway.
FITE TO SCHOOL GATE

Nwanne thank you for stating the fact and also putting that useless clown in his place

AmericanQuarter:

Please stop quoting me with your tantrums. Awka is a well planned city with decent housing system, you should be the one telling yourself the truth. All the things you listed are even worse in other cities in the region and Nigeria at large. Awka has been leading in overall investments in real estate in the region. Good that Soludo is already turned the city into a construction site. Anambra shall continue to be the flagship state in the region

Good development. Awka is the fastest developing city in igboland and also the leader in real estate development in SE

AmericanQuarter:
Today marks the beginning of a new era of real estate development in Anambra State.

The Ministry of Lands and the Anambra State Investment Promotion and Protection Agency (ANSIPPA) officially handed over assigned sites to seven (7) real estate development firms.

These firms will create unique residential and commercial properties within the Awka Capital Territory.

The selected real estate firms are:
CNN Urban Developers Limited, Rainbow Heritage Projects Service Limited, MIO Construction Company Nigeria Limited, Southern Matrix Project Limited, Treasure Garden Investment Limited, Periwinkle Residences Limited and Romax Properties Limited

Thank you for your submission. Clearly, you understood Awka and its challenges very well. We have made mistake with the old Awka, but repeating same mistake at New Town and Ifite axis is very painful.
