Land Lords prefer higher deposits as security for their property, since they don't charge extra deposit for maintenance when people destroy their property.
As a tenant, with a one year deposit held with a landlord, you'll make sure to keep his property in good condition.

Well, In the US, I know landlords who will charge you 6 months advance or even a year advance when they consider you a risk to their property.

The impact of 1yr rent is what we see west Africans do in Kenya.They have to live in gangs of 10 so they can divide the rent and be able to afford.Yes they end destroying the house..Somalis do the same...10 guys on single bedroom they spread a mart and sleep in turns.

Northern Ghana has some of the highly educated citizens in Ghana.
You need to experience the North before you condemn them

They like fighting but not uneducated
You will meet a lot of literates who can speak fluent English in the North than you will find in some regions in the middle to the Southern part of Ghana

Regions like Upper West and Savanna are more peaceful than many regions in the middle down to south
