Useless is even better, ECOWAS a threat, a harmful EU stooge , that is working against the sovereignty of West African nations. To this end, it serves as a Trojan horse in the implementation of France's neo-colonial policies in West Africa. It helped topple Laurent Gbagbo, the democratically elected president of Côte d'Ivoire , in 2011. The purpose was to impose by the all means ( including guns) Allassane Ouattara, the sell-out puppet as president of that country.
Once in power, Ouattara managed to thwart ECO, a West African common currency project .
He was involved in the dire embargo that almost crippled Mali, after that country kicked out France.
Ouattara s working hard with the E.U to forestall Mali's efforts in the fight against the gangs (self-styled
"Islamic groups " ) .
Feeling the threat Mali , Burkina Faso and Guinea are planning to form a federal state.

Note
About ECOWAS

The Heads of State and Government of fifteen West African Countries established the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) when they signed the ECOWAS Treaty on the 28th of May 1975 in Lagos, Nigeria.

The Treaty of Lagos was signed by the 15 Heads of State and government of Benin, Burkina Faso, Côte d’Ivoire, The Gambia, Ghana, Guinea, Guinea Bissau, Liberia, Mali, Mauritania, Niger, Nigeria, Sierra Leone, Sénégal and Togo, with its stated mission to promote economic integration across the region. The Senegalese President was represented by the Minister for Foreign Affairs. Cabo Verde joined the union in 1977. The only Arabic-speaking Member Mauritania withdrew in December 2000. Mauritania recently signed a new associate-membership agreement in August 2017. (...)

Considered one of the pillars of the African Economic Community, ECOWAS was set up to foster the ideal of collective self-sufficiency for its member states. As a trading union, it is also meant to create a single, large trading bloc through economic cooperation.

Integrated economic activities as envisaged in the area that has a combined GDP of $734.8 billion, revolve around but are not limited to industry, transport, telecommunications, energy, agriculture, natural resources, commerce, monetary and financial issues, social as well as cultural matters.

ECOWAS is useless because you can’t even travel in peace within so called ECOWAS nations with Ecowas passport without problems with the Francophones nations stressing Anglophone passport holders.

You will pay double once they see that your ECOWAS Passport is anglophone nation.
No train network within ECOWAS
The airlines service are bad

in what ways will it hurt , what are they benefiting from Ecowas when ecowas can not achieve a common currency , they will become the biggest federation on Africa , of course, they will align with Russia by default as they have a similar setting , they will enjoy transfer of technology , they will become the new giant. Of Africa Nigeria will be long forgotten, they will place us where we belong

Inasmuch as you might be sounding right to yourself, you also very wrong on this. A combination of Mali, Guinea and Burkina Faso would never make them Giant of of Africa, a lot of places in Mali and Burkina Faso are deserted with low population density, the population of the whole of west African is about 420 million of which Nigeria has a population of 225 million inhabitants, this means more than half of the population of west African lives in Nigeria.

It should be noted that Malli, and Burkina Faso are both landlocked countries meaning they have no access to sea, all landlocked countries are poor, and this is the more reason why they need Guinea and there is a strong opposition in Guinea fighting to stop it not to join that Union.

The GDP of Nigeria in 2022 Increased to $400 billion, while that of Mali is $48 billion, Guinea $38 billion and Burkina Faso $50 billion.

In terms of production Nigeria can boast of manufacturing it's automobile, Innoson is even producing military vehicles, we have production industries, Our Agricultural industry is the largest in Africa, Nigeria also have large oil reserves. The Nigerian entertainment industry has also be generating income to the Nigerian economy.

Sometimes ago Nigeria shut down it's borders and leaders from 9 west African countries trooped one after the the other to persuade Nigeria to open it's borders, my brother na bad leaders we get Nigeria is truly the giant of Africa.
