Now let me educate us on this issue. There is truly scarcity of eggs on the shelves in the UK. But a critical look at this shows two main situations that may have contributed to this. One is that some farmers have actually gone online to say that they have enough eggs on their farms but the retail stores have reduced their patronage to them. The reason is because the farmers insist that since there has already been an increase in the price of eggs on the shelves for almost a year now, the farmers also reserve the right to make a nearly commensurate increase in the price they supply these retail stores. But what the stores want and has been doing is to increase prices of the eggs on their shelves but insisting on paying the suppliers (farmers) the old amount that they have been selling to the stores. Second is that some farmers have truly experienced reduction in egg production by their poultry. This trend has been happening for close to two months. So some farmers suspected that the problem might be from the feeds which they purchase from stores to give their poultry. So what some farmers did were to prepare their own feed using the basic materials and then began feeding their poultry with it. Guess what, there was then a rebound increase in the eggs produced by their poultry confirming their suspicions that the problem was with the feeds. Having said that, have you all heard about the WEF? Yes, they are behind some of these occurrences. They have mechanisms in place to ensure they stop the dependence of citizens on certain food types which they will have monopoly on. There was a deliberate sabotage to actually reduce the dietary meals fed to the layers. |

I live in the UK and just finding out we have shortage of egg on Nairaland Technology is wonderful. It can tell you what's happening in your own backyard from halfway round the world I shop every week and never noticed an empty egg shelf. I guess the shortage will be reflected in the price but I no dey check price of small food items most times because I trust the supermarket I shop at to have the best price. |

una own betta. Na egg dey short for una country. For here, na moni oo. Essential commodities that people cannot do without is always on the short list in Nigeria. Sometimes ago, it used to be tomatoes, then onions. But never something like eggs or ajino moto, which about 70% of the population can very much do without. |
