The cumulative total of Anambra State Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) for the year 2022 was approximately 20 billion.

However, in same 2022, Lagos state averaged an IGR of 65 billion a month. and over 700Billion for the said year:

The Anambra State IGR collection for the month of January was 2Billion Naira. Accounting for just 0.2% of the total GDP of the state.

For a state with high economic activities, what we get as revenue is an anomaly. This is why the people must cultivate the habit to pay taxes. they must see it as a personal and collective responsibility they owe their state.

At least if the government can tax just 1% of the total GDP, of the state, we’d be in a better place.

This is why Gov. Soludo has taken steps to reform our revenue collection system.

From digitizing revenue payments to uniting payments and eliminating multiple taxations to the ban on Agberos and the war against illegal revenue collectors, this administration has taken deliberate and necessary steps to overhaul and set the system aright.

I feel it is important that people know some of these details and how they can deliberately and purposely play their part in nation-building.

One thing one can be certain of is that, to the last kobo, Ndi Anambra will get value for their money.

Lagos was our former capital for more than 75yrs with heavy federal government infrastructure and presence till today...Soludo should stop unnecessary comparison with lagos.

Anambra is doing great with development, Soludo should take it easy with tax.

Imagine telling Anambrains living in lagos and diaspora to pay tax back home after they must have paid in their respective place of residence.

but regardless of that, I doesn’t make sense that our Internally generated revenue is less than 1% of our GDP. Anambra state doesn’t get much from Federal Government allocation, the only way for any meaningful development is through IGR. With the amount of business and economic activities going on in the state, we have no business with having an IGR of 2Billion Naira. That too poor.

I understand the need of huge igr for development, Anambra state has lots of industries and big businesses... Soludo should tax them fairly.

In lagos, so many federal infrastructure is what still giving lagos state government huge igr, Anambra state lack that. Soludo should just take it easy on the people.

Dave umahi did wonders in Ebonyi state without taxing his people too much...soludo should learn from dave.

Shame no dey catch una. According to your logic, Lagos was fct for 51 years before this 4th republic. But yet the revenue was 600m. Somebody was the game changer. Somebody saw huge potential (GDP), and decided to tap into it to generate funds for his state without raising tax rate. It's thesame reasoning here by the op. There's the money already (GDP), just tap into it. Don't raise any tax rate! Just let people pay what we have all agreed to pay. It's the reason why I routed for Soludo. No room for mediocrity.
Lagos revenue to gdp is still even 2.9%(2022). Check the average revenue to gdp in Africa(16% as at 2020). And yet you want to compare with other climes in terms of development? We are really not ready!

The only potential tifnubu saw was increase in igr=more taxing with no tangible infrastructure to show for it.

Have you asked yourself what tinubu did with such huge igr?? Everything was looted and he left huge depth too

I understand that the citizens have distrust for their leaders and my position is not about Tinubu. It's about governance! Even the blind can see that Lagos has grown 'infrastructurally' and has improved her capacity to grow even more. I made this same statement in 2015. Kaduna changed its game right under your nose between 2015 and now; 300% increase!Do you think Anambra can stand Kaduna in terms of balance sheet now? Kaduna was not an fct!
People only lend to those who have capacity to pay back esp multilateral lenders. So huge debt is actually a plus for Lagos state. It's the proof of capacity and transparency of thier cash flow!

Kaduna and Anambra state? Ontop which level?? Anyways, focus on this two region SW and SE.

you can't deny the fact that lagos development breakthrough was totally dependent on it status as the former federal capital.

Federal government infrastructures was there, which played role for the influx in investors, increase igr and many others.

Even the nearby Ogun state is heavily influenced.

If there was never federal government infrastructures, where do you think the past governors will derive so much igr for the state development

Stop the obsession with fct thing. E no help anybody. It is what you make out of it that matters. Even the Ogun you mentioned was doing poorly before 2015 in IGR, until Amosun woke them up. Go check. Was Lagos not close to Ogun before 2015? Interestingly, Lagos revenue is more of PAYE (70% as at 2020) than Corporate tax. So argument of fct thing is weak.
Anambra economy is more informal than formal. The formal is already paying taxes. Your brothers in ABS, UNIZIK, FedPoly Oko are paying thier taxes already but the Chukwudi for Upper Iweka and Donatus for Nnewi spare part market are the ones not willing to pay. And they are the bulk of your GDP.
It's up to you to support the government to make your state better. Every action and inaction has consequences. Just live with the consequences and not Blame anybody for outcome, not even FG or lack of fct in your domain.

Increase in igr=heavily taxing the people...no problem.

Nigeria economy is in disarray, people are suffering to make ends meet.

Any government in need of urgent huge igr should build industries capable of generating such huge money, give back to the people b4 you start thinking of taking anything from them.

Pardon me. I just re-checked. If this is your understanding of how tax works and your last submission, I sheath my sword.
