I have observed that evey Lagos State governor seems to be praised for good performance. From Tinubu to Sanwo Olu it is always the same success story. Are the governors actually all geniuses or is governing Lagos made easy due to the fact that the state generates so much wealth to execute a lot of projects?

Aside the fact that Lagos make more money, the main reason why the governors excel is because of continuity.

Lagos is probably the only state where true continuity is practiced. Governors in Lagos see governance as fulfilling a certain mandate and they have the framework laid already and they just continue.

In other states, governors also have project but their successor always initiate a new one which inturn led to more uncomoleted project and corruption.

The major reason why Buhari made progress in infrastructure was because he finished most of the old projects by his predecessors.

Continuity is the key to progress in Lagos state.

Check how govs perform in the oli rich region and draw your conclusion.

Fashola said it all, "They are focusing on 51 billion that Lagos is generating but they don’t see the emigrant population that is coming everywhere. The bigger the prosperity, the bigger the problem. So their party sees only money, they don’t see the people, they don’t see responsibility."

He also added: "“I did that job for eight years. And part of what helped me was that I was chief of staff to a governor. I saw it upclose but even then, that was not enough. So just following a governor, being a cameraman, watching me for eight years, you think you will now be a governor? You are not ready. Come to our leadership school, you are not yet ready." to lay emphasis on how hard it is to be a Lagos state governor.

If you listen to Dr. Hamzat, the current deputy governor, you will know Lagos leadership are not your typical Nigerian politicians. They're smart, well schooled, competent, and well exposed. Hamzat said he was headhunted for the position. Go and read his resume. Lagos state govs performance is no fluke. No dey think am.

Let me add to this:

1. The huge IGR didn't just sprout from the ground. 600m/month in the very early 2000s to 51bn/month presently. It's no small feat. Agree or not, pulling such stunt in a country like ours requires hardwork, vision, dedication, and excellence at governance.

2. Having capable hands succeed past administrations back to back to back is no fluke as well. Lagos got it right with 4 governors since 1999 with zero margin for error, thereby producing the best continuity in governance sine 1999. I can't just imagine where Lagos will be in by 2030.

All things being equal, Tinubu's parties deserve the power they've held unto since 1999. It's always funny when you hear LP and PDP say they will take power. Lol. The citizens of the states are not fools. Why would any sane collective dump Asiwaju and his team, having pushed Lagos economy to the 5th largest in Africa, for people like Jandor and Gbadebo. Just look Gbadebo from head to tall; does that one look like some who knows what he's doing or have any idea on how to continue where Sanwo-Olu stops if he gain power? Lagosian are no mumu; they know what's best for themselves.

Lagos makes more money than most states, has a very small landmass, it's home to most industries and commercial entities and it's 90% urban...it is relatively easier to govern Lagos than other states!

The major reason for consistent successes recorded in Lagos state Is because of the GAC's designed blueprint makes that Made it easy for even the blind to develop Lagos if he/she do not deviate from it... It really gives room for continuity and any governor who fails to continue from where the other stopped even if he/she has good intention, has altered the blueprint ..
