To be fair that he was trekking for 3 days is an unproven claim
If true, one would ask, whether those that brought him reported him missing or not
Lol. The UK is not Nigeria. The body cam footage worn by officers picked up the moment he walked into the station.

Why would they report him missing? Pls think.

You are reacting without comprehending
Obviously
That the UK is not Nigeria is a superfluous remark
Where do you imagine I am?
I have done jury service
Anyway that is tangential
The body cam remark does not address the veracity of the claim that he was trekking for 3 days
You seem to be in a binary mode programmed to confront anyone you perceive as disagreeing with you. I neither agreed not agreed. I was THINKING aloud
Why would they report him missing?
You are the one that needs to think
Let us assume that it is established that indeed he had last been seen by the Ekweremadus 3 days earlier is it not reasonable to ask what action they took?
You......THINK

The UK government are helping him I believe. I think he has a case for asylum. It's not so easy to ship him back.

From what I know, people that are victims of trafficking are granted permanent residence.
Yes, you’re right—he will be granted asylum (if he hasn’t been granted it already) and become a permanent resident.

LOL. Of course they didn’t report him missing but I’m sure they were in a panic and scrambling to do something. Or maybe they were arrogant enough to think that he’d be too scared to go to police. My thinking is that when the body am footage of him running into the police story is shown to the jurors, it’ll be all over for the Ekes and the doctor.
It pains me to think of him sleeping outdoors in London without adequate clothing, especially since he is not used to the climate. That poor young man.

You live in the UK and did Jury service and you're oblivious to the amount of CCTV in the UK? You think they'd just take his word for it without verification?

They brought him to the UK under a false pretence, never kept him in the loop and started maltreating him once he was no longer useful to them and you really think they'd care enough to contact the police when he ran away?

Let us try to be objective to be a juror means one has to
1. Accept that the defendant is innocent and
2. that the prosecution has a responsibility to prove guilt
By the way I expect footage to be CCTV rather than body cam from the station

Such footage is only likely to establish when he got there and perhaps that he was in distress
How that would be damning without collateral testimony that the jury believe is indicative of a biased mindset. He will give testimony and the defence too
My view is it is too early to draw any conclusions

Yes. I'm sure they definitely wondered where he had gone to but I'm sure they didn't think he'd snitch.

I feel for him aswell, being lost in a foreign country is scary. he asked any black person he met for help, they gave him money and he couldn't even use it. This situation has turned out to be a blessing in disguise for him.

I'll say it again:
Clearly
Emotional
We are talking about evidence presented to the court
Not theory
It is an unproven claim that he was trekking for 3 days
I did not say it is untrue
It is unproven. TODAY
They could prove it tomorrow. We shall see
English language is obviously the issue
The point I was making which your emotions blind you to is that if it is proven to be true it will harm the Ekweremadu 's case because one would ask why they didn't report him missing
Certainly they will be asked when they last saw him and match that to when he arrived at the station

How can it be unproven when CCTV must have captured him roaming the streets? Not only CCTV, dash cam footage from cars and even some people's front doors?

Not reporting him missing is the least of the Ekweremadus worries.

1) Why would Ekweremadu try to take advantage of such a small kid as that boy.

2) They boy should have rejected their proposal right from Nigeria but greed of travelling abroad has blinded him to reason and he doesn't mind destroying the entire Ekweremadu family just to be able to stay in the UK

That there is a great amount of CCTV in the UK means if you sit on a jury you should conclude even if they don't show you the CCTV and the defendant is not given an opportunity to challenge it?
The UK is probably the most surveiled country on earth but that is an irrelevance.
The court is only concerned with what is put in front of it
JYou were talking, erroneous ly,about Body can in the station and now you are shifting to CCTV on the street
The CCTV footage still has to be retrieved and put in front of a court

YOU HAVE CONCLUDED that it will verify the claim of three days
What do you base that on

proven/proving happens in court not Nairaland
Until proof happens In court it is unproven

So I can't donate a kidney to a woman I love because she isn't a family member?

I am not arguing with you. I am educating you.

A total stranger can donate a kidney.

It mustn't be relations or family members.

The whole objective is to prevent sale of organs.

Once they are satisfied that it's done willingly without a business intention, it will be approved.
Yes, you are correct.

You are ignorant
CCTV MUST HAVEhuh That is an assumption Is that proof?
Juries do not operate on assumptions
Yesterday a dead body of a missing woman was retrieved from a river
CCTV has not established how she got there.

It is not a moral issue
I know the kind of discussion that happens in a jury
And the presumption of innocence.
If you follow my contribution on this thread it is about being objective and neutral, that is a mindset you should cultivate
Ekweremadu is not yet guilty
He is innocent for now
His guilt has to be proved

Don't people wash Ekweremmadu's cars, clothes etc?

Why won't he call Tinubu, Atiku or a big man's child to do those?

Everyone won't be rich.

I can employ someone to be wiping my butts, brushing my teeth.

Will I employ Dangote's son to do that?

Is anything wrong in employing a willing person to do that and pay them?
You see how many people don like my post. No peace for the wicked.

1stGenAmerican:
I practice in the US so I’m not versed on UK law but I’m almost positive that after the trial, this young man can sue Ike Ekeweremadu and his wife for damages due to mental anguish, etc. Because Ike owns property in Nigeria, the UK, and the US, the young man stands a good chance of winning, recovering enough damages to have him set for life. Nigeria might not seize and liquidate their properties but the UK and the US will.
I pray an honest and ethical Nigerian or other barrister in the UK helps him.
You just hit a bullseye with this statement of yours.
The anguish and despair the boy must have gone through, not detracting the shock and freight that accompany such volatile atrocious situation, are capable of breaking and unsettling anyone.
I pray this case ends in the boy's victory.
The ekweremadus had exploitative desire for the boy. And their ill daughter was a willing and committed party in the conspiracy.
Most Nigerian politicians are cruelly heartless. And they always have minions advocating for their nonexistent integrity and false compassion.
So don't be shocked or taken aback when you see people - with narrow outlooks of life especially politicians' stooges - supporting the vices of the Ekweremadus.

In the beginning, I believed that all four defendants were innocent—I had an open mind. The first thing that diminished their innocence in my eyes was when Ike’s letter to the high commission was produced months before the trial. That proved his intent to bring the young man into the UK for a transplant. What’s funny is that in that letter, he never mentioned the boy being a close relative as he told the medical staff. He also didn’t release any subsequent correspondence from the HC. Afterwards, each piece of evidence that surfaced combined to knock down the house of cards that was their innocence.
You raised some interesting points however the bodycam footage hold plenty of weight because jurors watching it are keen enough to descend if he was truly in distress or not. The bodycam footage is also key because it’ll prove everything the young man told the police. Now, you mentioned CC footage and I’m positive that not only will they allow jurors to see the footage from in and around the police station, I am also positive that they will show them the footage of the young man that they gathered in and around London leading up to him walking into the station. I won’t be surprised if CC footage of the boy escaping from the Ekeweremadu’s home is produced and shown to jurors and that will definitely raise the question as to why a young man is stealthily escaping from their home.

One big advantage that the UK currently has over the US is the fact that they rarely have to involve private business and homeowners for footage because Metro London is heavily monitored by CCTV.

Some so called services pose more danger than kidney donation.

You guys should address issues objectively without exhibiting subtle hatred for the rich nay politicians.

Note I don't like politicians either but facts must be stated the way they are.
The purported danger is passably negligible when it comes to the absence of a vital and necessary organ that facilitates functional life.
Your post reeks of elitist bias. And it betrays your nonpartisanship and indifference to cruel politician.
You also made a poor attempt at political correctness.
If any of your loved ones was in that circumstances, would you have made such unfeeling remarks?
Re: Ekweremadu: Nobody Told Me About Kidney Transplant, Alleged Donor Tells Uk Court by 0monnak0da: 8:20pm On Feb 22, 2023
Prosecution is not theatrics
It is about evidence and proof
I believe the charges are human trafficking and conspiracy to pay for a kidney or something like that
If we accept the boy's claim that he never knew then that would undermine the latter charge
The charge should then be something like deception I don't know if deception is one charges

Exxxxxxactly. All of the types of video you mentioned will be fused together to create a timeline of events and either prove the young man’s story to be true or dispel it. And guess what? If the Ekeweremadu’s have or had a Ring doorbell or something similar, it will show what was going on inside of their home near the doorways and if anyone watches Western news, they already know that police don’t need permission from the homeowner because by agreeing to Ring’s terms and conditions, the homeowner agrees that the police can access the footage remotely through other sources. More nails to seal their coffins.
