Section 134 of the Constitution provides as follows:

(1) A candidate for an election to the office of President shall be deemed to have been duly elected, where, there being only two candidates for the election –

(a) he has the majority of votes cast at the election; and

(2) A candidate for an election to the office of President shall be deemed to have been duly elected where, there being more than two candidates for the election-

That provision does not mean you must win 25% in the FCT. It means you must win 25 of 2/3rds of all the territories in Nigeria - those territories are the 36 States and the FCT conjunctively.

All of a sudden, the Labour Party candidate in the forthcoming Governorship election in Lagos State has added CHINEDU to his name. The CHINEDU he was hiding before last Saturday's presidential election. Isn't this a dangerous ethnic politics?

This is the first time a president will emerge in a presidential election in nigeria without winning Lagos, kano, Abuja and kaduna a clear sign that the whole process have been heavily compromised.

They are currently announcing states that Peter Obi won inorder to give us hope that he could win at the end of the entire announcements.

To get Dino and other agents that walked out of the hall.

Wen we come back on board, they would start announcing all those states they rigged massively for Tinubu.
By then it may be too late for us to cry Fowl.

Pls the whole election was a fraud. Even in the states Obi won, malpractices took place there

36 states + FCT = 37 states. The law is giving FCT a state status. If a candidate can secure 2/3 in 37 states making 25 states, he'd be declare winner.

Let me ask one question

Why do people use to say "We have 36 States in the Nigeria including FCT?"

This is simple.

36 states doesn't include the FCT.

There are 37 Sub autonomous regions /states in Nigeria. I.e. including the FCT.

Wrong. The Law does not say you must win 25% in the States and then 25% of the FCT.

You must win 25% of the States and the FCT put together. Anyway you will understand better as the day goes on.

That's not the point. The law says states and FCT. There's no clause for options.

Also, about FCT being a state. The law did not make FCT a state. The law clearly stated that FCT will behave as if it were a state. Read again.

FCT is not regarded as a state hence the emphasis on FCT. It just means the candidate must get 25% of votes in 24 states +1 state =25 states.
That is why in the constitution Nigeria comprises of 36 states plus FCT.
