Good morning people, A friend of mine told me he has saved about 9million and wants to buy a car of like 3million out of his savings, i outrightly told him not to try it, that it doesn’t make sense to use such amount to purchase a car out of that savings he has. He seems to be adamant about it though, abeg carlanders does it make sense to spend such amount on a car? , also what tokunbo car can we get for 3million max? NB This is going to be his first car |

Kirchoffs:These days, a car is a necessity not luxury... It aids ease of movement, enhances personal security from robbery incidents in public transport, as well as professional prestige. You wont know the value of having a personal car until you have a pregnant wife who enters Labor around 2am, or an important client rings you at odd hours, needing you to go someplace urgent.. These days, very few people take a carless prefessional seriously.. Sad fact. I bought my 1st car some years ago for 250k..and after paying for it, I had less than 3k in my account home and abroad.. But as cheap as that car was, it opened a lot of doors for me and made life much easier for me.. I have since changed vehicles, since life has been kinder. There is a car for everyone in any income bracket ..Your friend is overdue for a car, considering his savings...and his budget is proper too, considering his savings.. Only advice I can give him is that he will be far better off getting a toks older model utility vehicle than buying a Nigerian abused luxury vehicle for cheap.. 17 Likes |

Right now cars are expensive. The class of tokumbo cars you can get for 3m is EOD, 03 Camry..... Even Corolla sells for 3.5+ I wouldn't advice such. Rather, let him up his budget to 3.5m and get a sharp Naija used Camry 011 or 012 Accord or 010 C class benz. That will serve him good and he can resell it even higher in the next few years, if properly maintained. Or better still increase his budget to 4.5m and buy a tokumbo 011 Camry. They hold their value, you can resell anytime. 3m can't get you a 10 year old tokumbo car. 2 Likes |

Tell your friend to run a little market research on Jiji emphasizing on foreign used and 3 million max. He'll be surprised what he can pick there. He should just run a vin check and go with a very good mechanic for pre purchase inspection |
