Certain part of Kenya, Ethiopia, Somali and horn of Africa have had failed rainfall for 5yrs - something you will neve understand. Certain part of world have also had extra rainfall for those 5yrs. It's called la-nina or climate change. There is nothing kenya gov can do except assist the drought striken people. In place like Nigeria - because nobody help drought stricken people - they've become huge security problem - either as islamic terrorists or invaders killing farmers. Animals have died. Millions of wildlife have died. One lake completely dried and 10,000 crocodiles died. And dont start us on irrigation - after 5yrs of without rain - rivers dried up - lakes dries up - well dries up - and these people main livelihood - cattle die in their millions. They become poor and destitute. Why is hard to understand that drought is natural disaster. If Ghana was to have five years without rain - you will get worse famine that 1982. Your famine is due to stupidity - kenya drought is due to factors beyond anybody control vaxx: |

10,000 crocodiles die as lake dries out in Kenya https://www.msn.com/en-xl/news/other/10-000-crocodiles-die-as-lake-dries-out-in-kenya/ar-AA18BBMv?ocid=msedgntp&cvid=6164a8a3aeb84044bd43f08b19c5a080&fbclid=IwAR1hMyiqkjPwTz4lR00rF5hdjTjMDJIXKS0C8q-jdvCvuEzGYGahFh7iE9U The second biggest crocodile habitat in Africa has dried up completely following failed rainy seasons . Lake Kamnarok in Kenya's Rift Valley was once home to 10,000 crocodiles, second to Lake Chad in holding capacity. But the ox-bow lake has been shrinking over the years, largely due to fluctuations in weather systems. It has also been draining its water to a nearby river through a natural fissure, according to local reports. Crocodile carcasses are now scattered on its cracked floor. The few remaining crocodiles have relocated to nearby private dams, a resident told NTV Kenya television station. He said they are worried of increased human-wildlife conflict because of encroachment. |

There were fear of another 6th year of failed rainfall but good news - as of last week it's over. LA NINA is over for some part. We know go into EL NINO Tropical East Pacific is warming fast. El Nino is coming! El Nino/ La Nina is the biggest global climate driver of weather due to the amount of heat in those waters. Expect a big weather year ahead w/ near record global heat, extra weather extremes & perhaps less Atl. hurricanes. "A naturally occurring climate pattern that brought upheaval to weather systems around the world has ended. La Niña was in part responsible for record-breaking rain in Australia...drought in East Africa.

rvp2018:They are demonstrating because of high cost of living. Ruto hasn't been able to do what he promised. The cost of commodities has gone up than anytime in Kenya. Ruto government is busy destroying the economy by making unlawful appointments and increasing expenditure. Things like these are idiotic move.

rvp20182:You are an idiot , you thought Ghana didn't face similar experience and even far worse than that. There was a nicknamed after rawlings called 'rawlings chains', it is not about the golden chain on his neck but about how slim and how wretched people suffer and look, then we are experiencing very dry conditions caused by the prolonged drought, coupled with an extended harmattan (dry wind from the Sahara), which also contribute to the human error of the spread of bush fires especially in the northern third of the country. These fires damaged both stored and standing crops. Almost three years experience . I wasn't alive then but there is a recorded story of it . It was one of the reasons Ghanaian went in drove to Nigeria. 1981 to 1983 Till now we are still experiencing dry weather from our northern region which is closed to sahara desert ( Burkina faso and Mali )Yet we have embark on robust agriculture revamp . Build more bulk house to store more crops for future usage that can last for five years and beyond, initiating green house technology , so many advancement. We have put what we read in book into used. You are leaving in poor country with lazy means to produce and developed . Poor kenya blaming nature for his own failure . There is a proverb " You can tell a human not to pick a flower on the road but how do you communicate that to the wind which doesn't care about your sign language . It is technology that can do it . Used it to your advantage and stop blaming nature . |

Wuoche:Lets not blame Ruto much. All or most of foods u use in kenya are imported.with a Ksh loosing value, what should Ruto do? Fixing all that needs long term plans. You need to invest in agriculture, manufacturing and in tourism so that you can stabilize the ksh and have locally grown food enough to feed a nation, the same way TZ is doing. |
| Re: Kenyans Are Far Behind Nigerians In Every Aspect – Fani-Kayode by Wuoche: 12:29pm On Mar 21, 2023 |
Kazikazi:Is electricity imported? Ruto just need to sort out electricity prices and fuel prices (subsidies) and cost of almost everything will go down. Check the cost of fuel and electricity before he became president. What's the need of removing subsidies on food, fuel and electricity then use that money to buy cars for himself, appoint his sycophants unlawfully and reduce jobs? During uhuru's time there were programs like kazi mtaani which employed so many youths, pesa kwa wazee which gave elderly stipend at the end of every month and a certain mothers fund. All these Ruto has crapped, why? To increase allocation of fund to himself. Even those who voted for him are now regretting.

You must be one Raila goons smarting from tear gas. If Maize was 100 why would Raila & Azimio lose election and now crying with tear gas mondays. Now that you've recovered - Ruto was sworn as president - on Sept 2022 - exactly six month ago. These things are easy to prove. The last time Maize was 110 was somewhere in Jan-Feb of 2022. It rose to 230 - a week to election - as voter bribery scheme - UHuru introduced 8B kes Maize subsidy to bring the floor to 100. Not many people saw the maize - infact there were shortages. A few days after Azimio lost - Maize subsidy was suspended by Uhuru - and Ruto of course has not business on it. Maize now is 180 - from high of 230. This June. Maize flour - 220 Wheat flour - 250 1 liter of cooking oil - 400 Rice (sindano) 1kg - 170 1kg bar soap - 230 This is the current Kenya we live in. When Jubilee came in 2013 we had 1.7 trillion debt, they are leaving with 9 trillion debt. Yet this is where we are. What a waste Wuoche: |

Wuoche:The ksh lost value, the cost of importing fuel have now went up. You can't blame Ruto Again, some of your electricity is generated by fuel,so the cost of electricity should go up too. Kazi mtaani can't work anymore, the gov is broke already. You can't blame Ruto, he came to power when the country was already stinking debts. I compare Ruto with a fellow who booked in a sinking ship,i cant blame him much. |

I believe we produce more sugar cane than Tanzania. Heck we produce almost more of everything than you do - except for maize, beans and cashew nuts. Tanzania has half kenya economy despite being twice kenya and largely arable. NO SINGLE DAY WE WILL TAKE ADVICE FROM BONGO LALAs Kazikazi: |

How is Tanzania with rolling blackouts? You cannot tell us nothing. Maybe like to West Africans. Kenya has some worse drought last 5yrs - but zero blackout - because we invested in geothermal, solar, wind and of course thermal plants. Kenya power is expensive - but Zero blackouts. Tanzanai, Zambia, Zim, South, Name them - all of you dealing with rolling black out. Now you're moronically investing billion dollars in HYDRO - when the rains fail ![]() ![]() ![]() BLACK OUT.Last hydro power in kenya was 2002 - and we will NEVER invest in one again because you cannot relie on rainfall Kazikazi: |

I see. I once wanted to buy land near there - was dirty cheap for 120K. That place is now coming along. They need to fix Chemelil, Muhoroni and Miwani factories - gov should write it off and sell it to investors. Soin dam. Muhoroni industrial park. Rai cement and steel plant. I probably need to go back and look for land again. Wuoche: |

Leave melodrama. CAS and minister budget increase is tiny - not even 3 Billion! - compared to subsidies. Fuel subsidy grew to almost 100B. Maize in a week was 8B. You cannot compare employing few more minister and buying cars - with fuel or maize subsidy. Uhuru was going to make Kenya go bankrupt like Ghana. What Ruto has done is smart things. Instead of maize subsidy - he has given fertilizer to farmers - four-six months from now - maize will be cheap. Instead of racing with dollar with fuel and trying a MORONIC FUEL SUBSIDY THAT WILL BANKRUPT KENYA - Ruto has gotten fuel deal with Saudis and UAE - for six months from April - to Dec 31st. Fuel deal eliminate about 25% in cost that fuel cartels normally take. 4.5B dollar deal. Again removing 500M dollar pressure every month to import fuel - watch KES gain strength in coming months. Then Ruto has injected money to SMES - to borrow from Hustler fund. THAT IS HOW TO USE A BRAIN - not GHANA like nonsense that takes you to bankruptcy - or worse NIGERIA were 12B dollar subsidy mean Nigieria gov cannot do anything serious. Social programs continues - including all those social safety net. Wuoche: |
