Old things are passed away. It should be forward ever and backward never.
Very soon you will find someone at your new work place who will be giving free ride home or close to home. Very soon you will move forward again, say, a job of 100k+ or there about. Your growth has just started. You have paid your dues. I was once a teacher.

Oga, stick to the your former job, but be sure you make it clear that they can't serve you breakfast within the next one year.
You should up skill so you can get a better job.
You're a real man managing 20k with wife and 2 kids.

well i was in your shoes for seven years where i taught, started with 25k and it grew to 45k till march last year. I had other deals where i got extra 120k(home lessons) summing up to 165k no transport, saved up to rent an apartment, bought a car buh then the thing is the seven years affected my career i was stagnate cos i had no time for other things. but then i got tired of the whole thing, got other jobs buh there were not paying even half of what i was earning. See getting a job outside teaching was hard as i had no experience in other line and this guys were not wanting to pay . Buh cos of the future and my family i had to make a choice and chose a job that is not paying well, with no extras buh helping my career.
So, i advise you pick option 2
