Lagosians always over pamper their government that’s why Lagos is still in a sorry state compared to its huge funds. You always see them compare Lagos to Anambra instead of comparing Lagos to Dubai. Before Dubai started it’s urban development , Lagos was already “developing” as the nations capital. But Lagos now looks like a market square compared to Dubai’s massive and terrific developmental strides. Now, they have started hyping Lagos as the first state to generate Electricity in Nigeria, mocking the South East. Meanwhile, Edo State is actually the first. Obaseki, though a disaster, didn’t fail in this aspect. Edo already generates its own Electricity to all government offices , stadium and a pocket of companies on a 24/hrs basis … The reason the Governor is called the street light governor is because all the street lights are powered by it’s own Electricity, which is far more better than Lagos’s streetlights powered by diesel generators and solar … With the New Law, empowering states to generate electricity . Obaseki a visionary leader already saw the future.. He doesn’t need to publicize that he wants to generate power, the law empowers the entire state to dump BEDC and tap from an existing power source … Spot the difference … Many of these Lagosians have never left Lagos , and even when they watch films that show foreign cities , they think it’s CGI or AI generated 14 Likes 1 Share |

Who ever raised this topic is a toddler. Many states have done it before Obaseki. Amaechi did it in Rivers state through Afam power plant constructed by SAIPEM and AGIP. there was Ebocha power plant giving steady power supply to some parts of Egbema and Oguta in Imo state. There was Lagos IPP, the power to be used in powering the blue rail line is beeb generated by Lagos. Many multinationals in various states generates their power but transmitting it outside their environment is an issue because of the federal law, with this new bill that one has been laid to rest. The issue of the bill signed by president some days back will give state governments the right to generate and transmit power in their states without disturbance and limitations as we have been experiencing before. Your claim that Edo was generating and transmitting power is false because it was limited only to their facilities and this has been in existence for long in so many states and various multinationals. 5 Likes 1 Share |

vowiski: First I do not think this is about generation It is about end to end.including transmission and creating an electricity market opened I the private sector I do not know who is first to generate but ever Nigerian generates electricity. So you need to be clear what your definition of generate is Anyway Tinubu brought in Enron to Egbin any it generated and added t the Nationl grid Fashola did as well https://www.vanguardngr.com/2014/10/fashola-commissions-8-8mw-ipp/ So please stop this Obaseki story 4 Likes 1 Share |

Which Electricity does Obaseki generate? Lagos does not only use generators for street light but also solar . In fact most recently installed street lights are all solar . 2 Likes 1 Share |
