Ibime: ^^^Ninja, you are the fool here!!!

The RDM you are talking about is already a legend after taking over from your beloved flop AVB and achieving the unfeasible!

Just like RDM told Torres he is not taking a penalty in UCL final, RDM will do the inevitable and ditch Torres after proving to the club heirarchy that the WEAKLING experiment has failed and shekpe keeper is irredeemable. If the weakling likes, he can storm down the tunnel. A lot more of that to come.

RDM's status at Chelsea is not under question even by a mental lilliput like yourself.

The question is why is Torres still flopping 3 seasons in, and you are deflecting issues with nonsense yarns about RDM.

We were fooled into these arguments when Shevchenko was here. . . until he went to AC Milan and failed to score a single goal in one full season!

I thought these guys would have run out of excuses by now but they keep inventing new ones. Now some are even blaming Hazard.

I was right few months ago when I labelled Torres "the man of unending excuses"!

Empty talk. If we continue to turn out abysmal play against teams, RDM will follow his predecessors.
Roman will not spend #90m in one season, #225m over 2 seasons and a half for RDM to be playing defenders against QPR.

Siddon dere dey blame Torres.

I think Chelsea's problem is defensive. RDM does not trust his full backs to do a good job so he plays Bertrand and Ramirez as support on the flanks. It worked for him last season cos we had a striker who needed only one chance to score goals. So they just sat back to defend and wait for Drogba's miracle moment. It is virtually impossible for torres or any other striker on the radar now to fill Drogba's shoes, well maybe with the exception of Ibrahimovic. In any case, the 4-2-3-1 system is suppose to allow 2 defensive midfielders cover for the defense but that is impossible to achieve with a 34years old Lampard and a slow (maybe even older) Mikel. So in essence we are playing 4 defenders helped by 2 defensive midfielders and another 2 artificial full backs in ramirez and bertrand. How do we expect only mata, hazard and torres to do all the attacking.
RDM needs to be reminded that the best for of defence is to attack. Our defenders are nothing to write home about when they meet top opposition. The best we can do is to throw in all attacking options so as to possess the ball more and score more goals can we can concede.

A man that cannot even control simple passes by his teammates or beat his markers is complaining that he is not getting enough touches! This the same person that has shown us that even without a goalie manning the post there is no guarantee he would score! Its fun tho watching excuse after excuse being generated for Torres

U make it sound like QPR is some team. They've got 2points this season. One from Chelsea and the other from Norwich. We lost to QPR last season due to Bosingwa's foolishness. The 2nd leg was much better. Amidst all the Terry-Ferdinand issue, we thumped them 6-1. RDM was coach and torres got a hattrick. Let us not forget, Torres is still a wuse.

dayokanu: ^^ How many 90mins game has Ramires and Bertrand got this season?

Meanwhile we conveniently sidestep the DUD who has been a monumental flop ever since he stepped into CHelsea

Initially the excuse was that he wasnt getting regular minutes this season in 6 games he has played 530min. an average of 88mins per game and he has continued to be horrible.

Earlier we were told his teammates like Drogba, Kalou, Anelka, Lukaku were the reason he flopped those ones have left and he is still DUD.

We have been told that its the coaches in Chelsea that were his problems. Torres has played under 3 different coaches he still continues to be a flop.

We were told its the lack of creative players. This season he has played with some of the most creative set of players in Hazard and Mata in attack yet they still dont understand him.

He complained that the noise level in London was one of his reason for poor performance, They have reduced the noise in London and even started admitting Deaf and dumb ppl to Stamford bridge yet he continues to be DUD

So what is the new excuse? Approach games defensively? Dude are you serious? You mean because Ronaldo didnt start as CB means the team is defensive?

To be honest

Im a strong torres fan but after watching him closely

I think the anti torres fans are right on this issue

torres is gone and hes useless,

hes slow, cant dribble, doesnt take shots - a striker should have an eye on goal

instead torres holds the ball tries to dazzle 2 defenders and always looses d ball

maybe we should draft him to midfield,

in short

TORRES IS USELESS

Fernando Torres has had difficulty adapting to life in England's capital city because he has few Spanish teammates at Chelsea. The ex-Liverpool striker has struggled since leaving Anfield in January, according to Metro.

There are 3 type of strikers suited for the modern game of football

1. The Bullish type of striker: Who depend on their skill/strength e.g Drogba, Cavani, Tevez, Rooney etc they go head to head with defenders and get stuck in and get into physical contests with defenders IMO best suited for a 4-3-3 pattern

2. The ghosts who depend on their positioning and instincts e.g Nistelrooy, Hernandez, Inzaghi, Crespo etc They sneak around and pounce on mistakes by defenders and feed off the hardwork of their support strikers these IMO are best suited for a 4-4-2

3. The hybrid: They combine a bit of the two above e.g Falcao, Van Persie, Gomez, They can get stuck in to some extent and also position themselves excellently to pounce of lose balls, These are the most suited for a 4-5-1

The extinct ones like Owen, Torres who are always looking for the 100% chances laid for them to get one on one. Can barely survive in todays game. As they are not strong/skilled enough to go head to head nor have the instinct to ghost around. The defensive formations of nowadays are too hard for them. These are luxury strikers and mostly a liability to any formation

Common sense. Absolute common sense. I applaud you for the post.
The only part of your post I disagree with the "problem with the full backs".

In actual fact, the problem RDM has is getting the two wide forward players to provide defensive cover in a counter-attack.
For that reason, he's started every single game this season with either a pseudo forward in Ramires or a full blown defender in Bertrand on either of the flanks. So when Ramires plays from the right, Hazard and Mata interchange on the left and in the hole. When Bertrand plays on the left, Hazard and Mata play interchangeably on the right.

As much as this gives you defensive cover, it robs you of a considerable amount of forward creativity. However, because of the presence of Mata, Hazard found space and exerted influence on the game. Hence all the assists - Forward Unpredictability. This balance is still tolerable.

However, on Saturday, RDM took it to a brand new level by introducing four full backs in a game against forking QPR. Bertrand on the left, Ramires (no better than a surging full back) on the right. That left Hazard as the only player on the pitch from midfield with any sort of attacking instinct. It was easy for QPR. Double up on Hazard and you negate any forward threat.

Easy as. Then silly apologists come out from their holes expecting Torres to manufacture a Drogba-esque goal. It's not going to happen.

RDM must row some forking balls. Go all out in attack and mandate them to fall back and defend. Play Hazard Oscar Moses in the midfield 3 or Mata Oscar Sturridge, Marin Hazard Moses, Moses Hazard Sturridge. The options are flipping countless. Grow some balls.

However it's not going to happen. RDM doesn't have the balls to sit Lamps down. Lamps will not maintain positional discipline in 4-2-3-1 and you need a Bertrand or Ramires to create balance in the void left in defensive midfield. RDM's doing it the other way round. It will not work. Torres or not. I don't have a problem if Lamps starts a fuss about not playing. . Worst case he'll leave. I have a problem when the likes of Oscar, Marin, Sturridge, McEachran are threatening to leave because of lack of playing time. Respect the past, embrace the future.

Ogebni A40, go siddon. There should be no such thing as a gung ho in a 4-2-3-1 if deployed effectively. That's why it's a 4-2-3-1. For two defensive mid-fielders to fall back into a flat four if full backs are attacking or creating a solid six-player defensive shield when full backs are not.

Play Romeu and Mikel in the 2 in front the back four. If Romeu and Mikel will be too immobile, play Luiz and Mikel. (One very quick and strong in tackles, the other strong and shields well - both very good passers of the ball). Then Ivanovic, Cahill, Terry, Cole in defence. That's as rock solid as it can be. No gung ho shiiit!

That way, you have all the freedom for your attacking players. A mobile player in the hole that has the pace to transition play between defence and attack - Hazard and then unleash the pace and unpredictable dribbling ability of Marin, Sturridge and Moses on the flanks and the attacking full backs in Azpilicueta and Cole in turns. We may not win the league but we'll be pissy scary to play against. Torres or not.

However, it's not going to happen. The moment the 34-year old has to play. The balance of the team is altered and everything else has to be adjusted to cope with the frailties.

Good point nateevs all we need is the bolded part, and our attacking players can play and create. Lets not forget that Oscar can play the holding role too.
Re: Official Chelsea Fan Thread: Champions Of Europe 2021 by Nobody: 9:27am On Sep 17, 2012
One thing for sure is that Robbie clearly prefers a more stable and defensive approach, which is fine, against the top sides.

But my issue is the fact we were playing QPR, a team that we need to be getting 3 points against and really expressing our attacking talents. RDM once again lined up with left back Ryan Bertrand on the left wing and centre midfielder Ramires playing on the right wing, affectively playing these players out of position. Yes I realise they can do a job there and both of them can be used as cover for those positions, but when you have the likes of Oscar, Moses and Sturridge sat on
the bench, why on earth are we using these two as wide men?
Bertrand is quality, a great player who has an excellent future with us, but predominantly he is a left back. As for Ramires, this is really starting to get my back up, all I see whilst reading Chelsea supporters opinions on various websites, is that we all feel Ramires is not a winger and his most affective position is in centre midfield. Yes he had a couple of decent games out there in the Champions League last season, but that’s two games, the rest of the time he just cannot cut it out wide, is one-dimensional and lacks imagination and skill to beat players.
If we (the supporters) can see this and anyone who knows football can see this, why can’t Di Matteo see it? It puzzles me to use such a negative line-up against such a poor team. I’m all for using Bertrand and Ramires out wide when we are up
against the best sides, as it provides extra cover with defensive minded and energetic players allowing them to defend as a unit better, but no way should we be using that line-up on a weekly basis, and against QPR.

Oscar is class, one of the best central midfield
players around today and so far he has spent his early Chelsea career warming a seat. He must play and must play now, I cannot emphasis that enough. He is the type of player who will sit in the middle of the park and pull the strings, make things happen. I know he is young in terms of age, but in terms of majority, he is more than ready and needs to play every match.

Fernando Torres once again showed his sulky nature when he was drafted off on 81 minutes, storming straight down the tunnel like a little child who did not get what he asked Santa for at Christmas. Understandably he became frustrated at not seeing enough of the ball, this was again down to the line-up, but there is no excuse for throwing
your toys out the pram like that. undecided

Another thing that puzzled me was the fact he started Frank Lampard, off the back of playing two impressive performances for England in the space of 4 days, surely he should have been rested for the QPR match? Last season we adopted a rotation system, which I agree with, surely this was a perfect opportunity to use that system again and rotate him for a rest.

Fact is we're stil unbeaten, although it could have been 4 outta 4 but then RDM gotta fink twice bout tis negative approaches of his prior to some winnable games. cool

Respect the past, embrace the future.

When have you ever respected the past?

Every year since I came on here in 2008, Nateevs finds another different tactical reason why Lampard should not be in the team. What was it last season? He doesnt press quick enough for AVB defunct system. Twice, the ninja pressed and rob Messi to set up two goals to hasta-la-vista Barcelona in that epic semi-final. 2008-2009 and 2009-10, he cant play at the top of the diamond and needs to be dropped(he subsequently scored 27 goals and 20 assists). 2010/2011 - goals dont matter, I'd rather have someone who doesnt score and betters the team all round. Year in, year out, another tactical excuse. 2008/2009, he was taking Deco's spot. Respect which past? You fork-tongued liar!!!

As for me, I've said all along, Mikel is too slow to cover attacking style. Three months later, troglodytes convert my argument and apportion it to Lampard. Ideally, both players should be quick, but most onus is on the main defensive midfielder. The second midfielder is there to provide an extra presence in midfield, and still support the forwards as the base of a triangle, whilst the DM is there as last man to mop up, and requires speed. He is not there to run against 5 players. He is there to stop a counterattack that may involve 3 men at most, hence with the defense, one quick DM is enough to cover. The other is there to work hard, but doesnt need to be quick. See Fletcher/Scholes, Tiote/Cabaye etc. Now, according to Natives, the DM can be slow, but his partner must have the speed to run and cover him. The DM who needs a DM to cover him. hahahaha

Journey to work this morning and guess what Im reading in the London Metro. . . ninjas already calling out Torres. . . they have cleared the decks for the prima-donna, and just 5 games into the season, he is already coming under pressure despite having virtually no competition.

As for Babamide claiming that only 3 attacking players is not enough, that's because Torres is one of the three, making it TWO! Maybe he needs seven.

http://www.metro.co.uk/sport/football/912150-chelsea-boss-di-matteo-has-worries-of-another-dry-spell-for-fernando-torres

Roberto Di Matteo has no fear Fernando Torres will suffer another nightmare run for Chelsea despite the striker being anonymous in their goalless draw at QPR.

The Chelsea manager, has however, also promised Daniel Sturridge more opportunities up front after Torres’ understudy came off the bench and almost helped snatch victory at Loftus Road.

Former Liverpool forward Torres declared a fortnight ago he has finally exorcised his demons at Stamford Bridge after a positive start to the season.

But he has since produced two miserable performances and stormed down the tunnel after being replaced by Sturridge.

Manager Di Matteo dismissed suggestions the £50million signing could be facing another alarming slump in form, saying: ‘No, no, absolutely not.

‘We can’t put too much pressure on one player, we are a team and everybody has responsibility.

'We’re looking for other players to score goals as well.’

Di Matteo repeatedly refused to be drawn on QPR boss Mark Hughes’ claim Ryan Nelsen ‘dominated’ Torres and added: ‘I think it’s a team sport.

‘I thought, as a team, we played well, our centre-forward worked very hard, he had a chance in the first half to score as well, a half-decent chance in the second half.’

Roberto Di Matteo is not worried by Fernando Torres' dip in form after a good start

There were concerns over an apparent drop in Torres’ workrate as the game progressed, begging the question as to whether Sturridge deserves the chance to start when Juventus visit in the Champions League on Wednesday.

‘As long as he keeps training well and shows his qualities he’ll get chances to play,’ said Di Matteo.

When Chamhakh wasnt scoring, Arsenal finished fourth and struggled. Chamhakh was ditched half a season into his experiment. How come Torres is still here in his third season?

Chamakh wasn't ditched - he took his rightful place on the bench behind RVP who is clearly a better striker. His slump actually started after he was 'intimidated' by RVP's return. grin

Now back to Chelski's case - if the issue is solely Torres, it should be apparent in the chances he is getting and wasting. However, that didn't appear to be the case against QPR, considering the amount of key passes overall. One might say his inability to control passes influenced this, but this is debatable.

Secondly, why is a team like Chelski playing 2 LBs and Ramires against QPR? Is QPR's strike force that lethal? If y'all simply intend to defend so much, why buy Marin, Oscar, Moses and others? If you can't be attacking against QPR, what will Chelski do when they go to the Etihad or OT or the Emirates?

As for arguments that Mikel is too slow or Lamps is too slow, how come the coach hasn't realised and addressed the problem after 80m in expenditure? Or is he still trying to find his optimum starting line up?

Chelski is still topping the table for now - let's see where things lie after 10 games and judge then

Mata,Hazard,Lampard that's three creative players behind Torres! Ordinarily that should be enough and the general consensus here is that Ramires cannot play centrally so the flanks are the only option. I do admit that I find it puzzling and would like to know the rationale behind starting Bertrand in such an advanced position but I guess RDM is just keeping faith with last season's heroes that's the only explanation I can think of!

By the way is it just me or has the 2nd season syndrome kicked in for Mata? I have watched Chelsea's games against City,Wigan,Reading,Athletico and Newcastle and the hombre has done absolutely squat!!!

Juve would provide a good test on where this team stands at the mo

There is no point to out him. When was the last time media outed someone? There's no public interest in such, not even when Colin Jacksons boyfriend was trying to out him. Outing is your personal business unless you out yourself George Michael style. Anyways, the gist is that the matter was settled just like Jermaine Jenas' matter never saw light of day.

Interesting. . .was that Naija style 'settled' or do you mean something else?

Fellaini is just so forking untidy. His feet are not nimble enough to play central midfield for a big club.

See how anichebe just used his body to turn that fella. If it's Torres they would tell us he was never one on one against any defender. That's what you call one on one, a situation that occurs zillion times in a match for Torres but he doesn't have strength or quickness to capitalise

I was about coming to post this. Thats what a striker needs to do in such situation

if one is waiting for every ball to be 100% laid on the plate for you or to have a free run at the keeper from 50yards then you can sign Michael Owen for Free and save 50m

dayokanu:
The extinct ones like Owen, Torres who are always looking for the 100% chances laid for them to get one on one. Can barely survive in todays game. As they are not strong/skilled enough to go head to head nor have the instinct to ghost around. The defensive formations of nowadays are too hard for them. These are luxury strikers and mostly a liability to any formation

Abeg Michael Owen at the peak of his powers was No 2. Lest we forget he was at one point in time one of the world's best strikers. His Ballon D'or duly proves that.

Also Torres is easily No2. And with a bit more strength training would fit into the no 3 bracket. Even without the strength training, there has been times I've gone yes he definitely fits into the No 3 category.

His case might very well be of Form being temporary and class permanent.
