As a zoomer,I want to know the obsession boomers have with TV of then because they keep claiming TV was better then than it is now. I did try to watch from the 60s-80s but damn It was bad as the plot was super-predictable, terrible picture, sound quality and over-acting just didn't make last long enough,I can suffer through that pain when it comes to movies of the "Golden age of Hollywood" and not series (Hollywood has really gone a long way) so I'm starting my own 90s marathon. As a horror/mystery and scifi fan,I'm starting with "Twin peaks" then I'm moving to The X-files,if you boomers have any recommendations, please tag me

Nostalgia is a drug humans never get enough of.

I can still remember the TV model, the day, the sofa, the sitting position, and the excitement watching each of the Lord of the Rings trilogy.

IDGAF about the future generations and their opinions.

I've scheduled Grave of the Fireflies (a 1988 animation) for a watch next month. Yes, I'm perfectly fine with it ruining my entire week, but movies are a lot of things to different people.

Be rest-assured that figuring out why earlier generations light up about coeval releases is not particularly rewarding outside of an academic scope.

I binge most shows but there are some I can't wait so I watch weekly

While there are some shows I just can't enjoy watching weekly:
One piece
My Hero Academia
Bungou Stray Dogs
To Your Eternity

I watch Blue Lock bi-weekly tho

For shows like Vinland Saga and Attack on Titan, I watch as soon as possible to avoid video and clip spoilers from Twitter and YouTube

After Chainsawman I've decided that I will always wait. Bingeing animes is much better.

I heard One Piece have more than 1k episodes? WTAF? That will simply take me atleast 5 years to complete. cheesy

you can use my trick to watch One Piece

I took about 5 years to catch up...
I would watch about 100-200 episodes at a go...(about 2-3 long arcs)
Then chill for about 6 months - 1 year

Then rinse and repeat...

You can watch based on arcs and skip fillers

In fact it's better to binge One Piece than watch weekly...
Since I've caught up now, I had to stop as the pacing is too slow so I'm not enjoying it weekly...

I'm waiting for it to pile up to like 10-15 episodes to watch

It's not really surprising that you'd find them predictable. Afterall, yesterday's mind-bending plot twists become tomorrow's overused tropes.
What left audiences shocked years back is now par for the course in recent times.

Same with the technological factors. Colour TVs were once the peak of home media devices. Something you lorded over your peasant neighbours with their black-and-white TVs. Since then, we've moved on to 8K resolutions.
Doesn't change the fact then when folks gathered around the old box TV back in the day, they thought that was the best that media visuals could get.
Same with sound.

most TV shows back in the days were episodic af

Don't let their hype foôl you...
It's nostalgia that makes them rate many of those...
Most are not any better than our own episodic shows like Papa Ajasco

exactly, and that nostalgic experience makes them believe and rate these shows among the best ever made...

Most of those shows can't stand up to present day ones

I started watching the greatest story ever told (One Piece) years ago when it had about 400 episodes - it was already at “Impel down arc”.

I too could remember thinking this should take me a year, lo and behold I was all caught up in less than 3 months.

there are actually some pretty decent One Piece timelines compiled by fans...

But most aren't up to date yet, some haven't even been updated in years....

But still they are so long...I've seen details of events from thousands of years before the start of the series...

You can check the one in LibraryofOhara...it was last updated in 2018...but still impressive

When you see them you'll be shocked that one single guy created this story

Only other show I've ever seen with such World Building and timeline is LOGH

It's been long I've been here 😎😎😎😎😎
A Korea series titled "island" took me away from watching other series for like a week but i am back now. 😁😁😁😁

Anyways Power book 2 ghost season 3 episodes 1 and 2 are joint 8/10 for me.

It's like that lady called Noma is going to be a problem this season 🙆🙆🙆🙆🙆 bitchhhh is a cold heartless motherforker.

This season is just two episodes already and secrets are already flying up and down.

With the sins Tariq has committed, he is definitely not walking out of this game alive.

Black mafia family season 2 was a solid 8/10 for me..

What a beautiful season, totally enjoyed the whole season, now that the brothers have kind of like separated to spread their empire, it has kind of let them more vulnerable.

I hope the cliffhanger they gave us on the last scene of the series is not what i am thinking 🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔

Anyways can't wait for season 3.

Island season 1 is 9/10 for me.
This is the korea series that stopped me from watching other series for like one week.

When i started this Korea series, i didn't know it will stop me from watching other series, i had to finish the series before i could watch other series.

The series charmed me and captivated me.

What a series mehn!!!! Korean are good story tellers, no matter how long their series are, each episodes always gets you glued to your seat, even if the series is more than 20 episodes long, each episodes are hits back to back.

They know how to captivate audience with their stories. Let me now say much though, you need to watch the series called island if you haven't seen it.

No it's not horror, it's mystery and fantasy.
You will love it. As you begin to get deep into episode 1, you will begin to love the series.

Looking good so far

Let's see what the puzzle pieces lead up to
John Weir definitely knows more than he's letting up...

I won't be surprised if this is some intricate plan that he himself set up
