Kenya is a great benchmark otherwise you fools wouldn't waste all day and energy to prove otherwise. We are an enigma to you Tanzanians, Ghanains and others. Try to promote your countries without involving us, you won't get anywhere. cool
Sorry your country is such a failure that you guys always have to use Ghana as the yardstick for measuring kenya

You can't get somewhere without something getting you out of comfort zones.
South Africa made oil from coal to overcome trade embargo.
Tanzania will never amount to much beause you're lazy and unambitious - as long as you've filled your tummy with sweet potatos.

Initially the ban of raw export will result in losses;
But eventually value chain will be created.

For example - Kenya banned export of many nuts - like macadamia - and now we have many factories.

Imagine if Tanzania ban export of raw cashew nuts - India companies will come
Tanzania uses higher tariffs to discourage the export of those strategic raw materials/crops. Also we give incentives to encourage the setting up for processing industries of raw materials.
Cashew nuts is one of the many stuff falling in that category.

You can't teach a Tanzanian anything.

We don't have a total ban on everything same as China,US and all of us in Africa, no one have a total ban of exporting raw stuff.Kenya, the last time I checked you were hauling raw oil in trucks ready to export. But foolishly, you can't see that, you are quick trying to teach your big brother who feeds you.

Again,we export raw coal to kenya,Uganda,Rwanda,Ghana,DRC, etc to feed in their cement factories. Without tanzanian coal, their factories will die. But still we are adding value for the rest of coal which we process for household use.

Currently we feed kenya because we are hardworking folks.Lazy bones are starving.

No witchcraft works on me.Just curse your leaders.

Back to stuff. ...

U.S. export raw coal every single year. These are folks who have all the technologies u dream of but they also exporting raw stuff. That is how business work. You take advantage of a situation. If exporting raw coal makes sense than trying to squeeze the same coal into oil and makes less money, then a sensible man will sell raw coal.

And stop telling me about big industrial output.I don't believe African data especially yours. It's debatable, and I have no Time for those arguments.

Stop lecturing me about adding value. Tanzanian 2017 reformed mining law was all about adding value and having more of local content in the whole mining value chain. The delayed LNG project was delayed mostly because of the same issues which we were arguing with mining multinationals.

Instead of telling us why you are still exporting raw oil,You were quick to teach me about adding value. You want a total ban, good, start with oil.

Am supporting addition of value to African raw materials, but am against a total ban.No country in the world have a total ban on every raw stuff.

Boss, Tanzania coal is of such low quality, last I heard Dangote was importing from South Africa.
Even Kenya companies - mainly get South Africa - and maybe a few of your low quality coal.

Tanzania cannot be taught yet you're one of poorest countries on earth.

Twice or thrice poorer than Kenya

KaziKazi when is your snail electric rail ever going to get off ground.
Remember you started almost immediately you heard kenya was doing it.
Kenya we started operation in 2017 after 3yr record speed construction.
We are in 2023 - likely you'll go 10yrs - Nigeria style before operation.

Now it scandals after scandals

This electric SGR, "fastest in Africa" was a bad idea to begin and will never see the light of day just like Bagamoyo port which was to compete with the already fully functional Lamu port.

Hello madman of kibera,

Do u have idea how we get to know a certain coal has a poor quality?

Your dangote guy uses coal and gas the last time I checked. Actually what motivated him to erect the factory in mtwara was those gas fields nearby.

Kenya is poor than Tanzania. Actually the worst poverty is when you lack a food to eat,no poverty can be worse than that.

Remember we feed your factories with our coals.without Tanzanian coal your little manufacturing will die a natural death.
Again we feed your stomachs with organic food from Tanzania.

We have coal in Kenya.
We just are not interested in investing in a pollutant.
We have decided to become a world leader in renewable and clean energy
Our intention is to become leader in carbon trading and climate financing.
We intend to cut emission by 30%.

We have rejected plans to generate 1,000MW of plants using our own coal or imported coal

https://www.the-star.co.ke/counties/eastern/2020-09-02-kenya-undecided-on-mining-coal-in-kituis-mui-basin/
Kenya undecided on mining coal in Kitui's Mui Basin. Coal regarded as a dirty energy source gobally; opposition has blocked project since 2013.

Expecting them to pull such project on time, on coast and quality is a stretch. We are in 2023 - no electric train - no bagamoyo - no LNG - no oil pipeline.

Last project they did was to build two towers in Dar.

You can turn it into oil.But this is a costly exercise. In most cases, its unprofitable.

Or you can turn it into ordinary briquettes and use for households,in Tanzania we are doing that.

But tanzanias coal reserve is over 1.5 billions tonnes. You can't use all that into household. We ecport others as raw, then it end up mostly in cement factories to generate power

The US export raw coal
Australia exports raw coal
Russia exports raw coal
South Africa export raw coal
Tanzania export raw coal

Only some stupid Africans try to sound smarter than all those superpowers, and funny, the same Africans who are against the export of raw coal are busy exporting raw oil and importing refined oil.

Then, they will come here trying to lecture me about adding value!
