Treason is defined as - The crime of betraying one's country, especially by attempting to kill or overthrow the sovereign or government

Lately, some people have been attributing that word 'treason' to Obi and Datti. However, regardless of who said what, when and where, the fact is that you cannot overthrow a government that does not yet exist.

Until Bola Tinubu is sworn in, he has not formed a government. So what government is Obi or Datti trying to overthrow or subvert? One that is yet to exist? It becomes immature and premature to be using the word treason

You cannot commit treason against a non-existent government.
