I mean the level of useless comments I read here is abominable, 90% of the comments on front page topics are just repetition of the first few posts, it's sad because there are some sensible and educational posts on Nairaland which are overcrowded by the number of rabble posts.

I think Seun needs to introduce an annual subscription, that should at least reduce the number of senseless post here and create a sense of exclusivity.

I read mostly headlines and skim through the rest of it. They're are too many e-retards on Nairaland.

Nonsense.

I mean it will drastically reduce the number of stupid comments since teenagers and children can't comment on the site because they can't afford it, also those who consider Nairaland not worth it would simply leave, also it will reduce the pressure on the mods to push trendy but meaningless topics to generate traffic.

Meaning a large pool of sensible people would remain and this would change the discourse on the site for the better.

"I think".

Your comment is just too unintelligent to reply so I'll just numerate a few.

1. "Stupid teenagers & children" have the most money to spend on frivolities which Nairaland is.

2. "those who consider Nairaland not worth it would simply leave" are the guys that drive Nairaland's ad revenue. If the numbers leave, Seun's ad rate drops.

3. If you think any serious person will pay to comment on Nairaland then you are deluded. The serious ones read & scroll. 90% of commenters are attention seekers.

Bye.

No because to pay you need to have a bank account with money inside which teenagers wouldn't have and if they have it they wouldn't want to spend the only money their parents gave them on Nairaland

2. "those who consider Nairaland not worth it would simply leave" are the guys that drive Nairaland's ad revenue. If the numbers leave, Seun's ad rate drops

This wouldn't be a problem because Seun would no longer rely so heavily on ad revenue.

I agree, as long as Nairaland remain a petty site no one in their right mind would want to pay to interact on it, if this changes though.

Lol.....even fb, Twitter, YouTube no dey do paid subscription, na Nairaland wan start am.....πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚
Even reddit & quora won't even try it, talkless of discord or twitch or rumble. Seun should just hire more mods to regulate the comments on the site. That's all

Number 2 can't work. It will discourage people from coming to the website

Reddit and Quora have good moderators, they also use an upvoting system so the most sensible posts are more visible...

I don't think this might work for Nairaland

Just observe how the most tribalistic posts tend to get more likes than moderate ones

So good moderators or upvoting system won't change much it's the customer base that needs to be worked on.

True, but it might also make people take the site more seriously.
