Based on the nature of your brother's job "Field Agronomist", I will recommend nissan pathfinder 2002 model. It is a very rugged SUV that could withstand rough road terrains and don't forget most field roads are always in messy condition in wet season and that's when your brother will be frequent on the roads being the farming season. Toyota highlander 2002-2005 will also be a perfect fit but the nissan pathfinder will be more pocket friendly.

I have a Nissan pathfinder 2004 for sale.. Your brother's budget is more than enough to buy the car, do some repairs and still have enough change.
