Zoning also includes distribution of government development infrastructures to the zones, not only distribution of political offices among the zones.
But through their age old struggle that led to concentration of every government development institution in Owerri zone, no consideration for Okigwe and Orlu zones,
people of Owerri killed zoning in Imo state.
But governors that emerge from Orlu carry only their personal political interests. The zone remains most backward in Imo state.

Imo polytechnic Omuma is orlu zone. University of science umuagwo is in orlu zone.

The roads in orlu that leads to owerri, awo-omama, okigwe, mbano and anambara have been built and rebuilt by Udenwa, Okorocha and Uzodinma.

Owerri case is just like Lagos or Port Harcourt being administrative & commercial capital. Rochas and Hope did nothing spectacular. Stop sounding like those who think Tinubu made Lagos.
Whereas, it's Udenwa, Rochas and Hope that has embarked on bringing teaching hospital, international markets, polytechnics, college of education and university to new (majorly ORLU) areas across the state outside Owerri zone.
@Mbano, obowo, Omuma, Ideato etc and upgrading polyUmuagwo to a university.


Rome was not built in a day.

Owerri and it's institutions did not gain that popular status overnight. Calling them petty institutions is A lack of vision and ingratitude.
Generally, we haven't had performing governors but what you chose is to paint owerri people who're also victims black just as done to Igbos in Nigeria

In bold, Imo teaching hospital. Are you sure that Imo state University Teaching hospital still exists in Orlu?
Imo state University no longer admits new students in Medicine and surgery, meaning that Imo state no longer has a university teaching hospital. Some people say that governor Hope Uzodinma has taken loads of things in the teaching hospital to Umuguma Specilialist Hospital in Owerri.

But each of the successive governors of Imo state have been trying to build Owerri in a "day;" and watch the two old cities- Okigwe and Orlu- dry up as they are doing today. Owerri people are happy because, no politician from Owerri zone has ever told those useless governors from Orlu and Okigwe zones that Rome was not built in a day, modernise Orlu and Okigwe at the same time.

If he's an indigene of the state by birth or naturalization and if he has the popularity then good for the person to contest. Igbo people are not interested in your governorship. GRV result and low turnout despite all attempts to incite a mini "obidients" movement should tell you.

Come to Ohii, Ifakala, Umuguma, Mbieri, Obosima, Naze, Irete, Uratta, Nwaorieubi, Orogwe Uzoagba and show me Which part of Owerri is the modernisation happening. What of Ngor/Okpala, Mbaise, Ikeduru? Or you think changing streetlight, patching potholes and painting median around Douglas and Wetheral is where Owerri ends.
Owerri people have been protesting since time immemorial. They don't have any land again. Only FUTO is mini LGA land taken from them.
