This is really a good project but not well thought out, what happens dangote refinery. The diesel from dangote refinery will be a bit of waste product because other states have either launched their modular refineries or are moving to cng and lng

Heavy duty trucks and machinery will still need diesel to operate.

Yes, because we have been empowering the state with our IGR grin

If the money made in lagos is used judiciously, we will have a state that is better than Dubai. But poor management and embezzlement has been the bane of this state.

Is there no IGR in Anambra state? What did Obi and others do with it?

I give it 6 months
Come and check again?
Bad belle, in 6 months the bus will still be running and they will be in Good condition
But, if anyone try to set the buses ablaze like some IPOB did during #ENDSARS it will land them in life sentence/ execution.

The development is so good that you find it hard to believe. I like that
But please remain in Onitsha, we are happy to have you there thinking like this while we move progressively ahead in Lagos.

As for me, I don't see any reason to pump more cars on the road.
Because this will cause more traffic....

The government should consider water transportation

This is not about pumping more cars on the road. These new buses will also follow the existing BRT routes.

Also, maybe you are not aware, water transportation is being taken care of well by the current government.

it's a project in futility. Here are my reasons:
-No constant infact no electricity except you buy diesel and power big gens to charge them (cost of diesel and cost of generator repair is high and it's going to be a constant repair for a region with poor maintainance culture)
-parts of the bus just like the fossil fuel types too will be imported
-repairmen will likely be foreigners cos it's a new concept and we don't have capable hands
-bad mannered drivers and conductors, causing problems and loss of lives I'm citing the accident with a mini bus at ifako bridge and abduction of a lady for ritual purpose

OANDO will be building Universal Chargers at public places like malls and gas stations, and also at designated BRT bus stations. So that takes care of the electricity concerns.

This is a pilot phase and the idea is that if this turns out good, an Assembly plant will be built in Lagos for electric buses in the near future.

Dangote's intentions are not basically for the Nigerian market and consumption, but for export. Google it, that refinery is one of the largest private owned. Don't worry, Dangote's investments are safe.

classic; so all because we want to progress retrogress, we have to put the cart before the horse. Oando will build it and so on.. wale tinubu owns oando as a front for "you know who" we all know the culprit.
How will oando power the chargers, it's by buying buying diesel and spending heavily which is not sustainable

Is this what Lagos transport really needs now?

Or trams that have dedicated speed lanes linking residential and work areas with no obstruction that you can be sure to depart and arrive destinations at pre-appointed times devoid of traffic hold ups.

With that alone, traffic jams and toxic emissions will drop by 50% at least because people will gladly drop their cars at home.

Dey do electric bus when electricity is not even stable. Putting the cart before the horse.

What happened to the similar hype about the electric light rail launched by Buhari in January?

The question is what is the end objective of the electric buses. To reduce fossil fuel emissions? How many people in Nigeria can afford even basic electric cars today? Why spend so much in public chargers when only public transportation buses will use them? Is that profitable?

Misplaced objectives done for eye service. That is the summary of this project.

The question is whether this is a bigger or smaller scam than the light rail fiasco of the past two decades.

Lagos light rail’ll be ready in June – Fashola
January 9, 2013

The Lagos State Governor Babatunde Fashola on Tuesday said the first phase of the state Blue Light Rail project would be completed by June this year(2013).

He expressed confidence that Lagosians would start enjoying the services of the rail project immediately.

The first phase would run from Marina and terminated at Okokomaiko area in Ojo Local Government.

Fashola spoke during an inspection of ongoing projects in the state which took him and his cabinet members to Orile-Iganmu, Alimosho and Ejigbo areas among others to assess the level of works being done by contractors.

The governor, who inaugurated the trackwork of the blue light rail at Alaba Suru, Coker-Agunda Local Council Development Area, said the level of work on the road and those of the National Theatre and Alaba-Mile 2 rail stations, would ensure early completion

He said, “In order to finish the project, the contractor did not go on vacation during the festive period. This will ensure that the project is delivered on time for the use of Lagosians.

“The first section of this rail, which started from National Theatre, Orile-Iganmu to Mile 2 Bus Stop, would be fully completed with the tracks laid.

“Construction work will continue on the project from Orile-Iganmu to Marina, the expansion work on the road from Mile 2 to Okokomaiko will also be intensified.

“This is what we do with the loan collected by the government. We don’t use our loan to pay salaries and other recurrent expenditure, what we do with our loan is to provide capital projects that would serve the residents.

“When the project is completed, the state would be at par with other major cities of the world.”

I thought you're very smart...what negative effect can this development bring to Dangote refinery? If you think this can negatively affect Dangote what about those powerful countries that banks on crude oil? Think of this too

Power supply: All homes in Lagos will be lit in six months if… —Fashola

Governor Babatunde Fashola of Lagos State, yesterday, said the solution to the problem of power sector could be achieved in six months if the Distribution Companies, DISCOs, were ready to yield some percentages of their concessions to the state government.

Fashola made this statement at the commissioning of the 1.2 kilometer Glover Road and 8.5 megawatts, Peninsula Integrated Power Project, PIPP, Lekki, Eti-Osa Local Government Area.

The governor, while commissioning the fifth IPP, said: “Let the EKO DISCOs sign a contract with me, giving part of their concessioning to the state government. In about six to eight months, there will be power in all homes in Lagos State.

“So, let no one say that he has no money to deliver power for the entire country. This is the limit to which the law allows us to do, but we have done this to make a statement that power can be generated.

‘’So, when they come with lies that power is impossible, you can tell them that we have power here; we make it possible.”

This is really commendable. Sanwo-Olu deserves his 2nd tenure. I think he is a decent governor, not the best but he is decent.

How I wish every state with almost same strength as Lagos state can begin to do same for their citizens. Rivers, Delta, Cross River, etc.

Seconded 😂

Nairaland should play it's role in encouraging Nigerians (Lagosians) to be up and doing with their taxes. For example, they can include an update for users to register with their Tax ID, let's know how many noisemakers we have on this platform 😁
