In as much as i am not against progress, this is a white elephant task. In a country where we cant boost of 10 hours straight power supply? This would not last for long. Just thinking loud though.

This is not about pumping more cars on the road. These new buses will also follow the existing BRT routes.

Also, maybe you are not aware, water transportation is being taken care of well by the current government.

Let's be realistic, how many boats are on Lagos water ?

I guess you guys like this Lagos life of waking up by 4.30am/5am for a work you're to resume 8am cheesy

Are you aware some part of lagos state uses 18hours electricity on average daily? Its good to always embrace innovations for good developments, every nation is trying so hard to reduce the combustion of hydrocarbons moving into electric and you are still trying very hard to condemn the new innovations, strangnant and Backwardness no dey tire una?

This is very beautiful. We the Lagos people will enjoy this buses purchased with our taxes.

Congratulations my fellow Lagosians. We are doing well, very soon the government will be building new houses for us so we can have decent housing in Lagos.
our government are not sincere, about 60% of new brt buses are parked & not working why buying another one?

There are quite a number of boats on Lagos water. The government has Lagferry and private investors contributes to the rest. Currently, the government is expanding the lagos water routes and building several new jetties. So yea, the government is ensuring that more Lagosians embrace water transportation through these initiatives.

18 hrs of electricity a day is still a disgrace.

No other city with over 5 million people has this problem in the world.

it's a project in futility. Here are my reasons:
-No constant infact no electricity except you buy diesel and power big gens to charge them (cost of diesel and cost of generator repair is high and it's going to be a constant repair for a region with poor maintainance culture)
-parts of the bus just like the fossil fuel types too will be imported
-repairmen will likely be foreigners cos it's a new concept and we don't have capable hands
-bad mannered drivers and conductors, causing problems and loss of lives I'm citing the accident with a mini bus on ifako bridge and abduction of a lady for ritual purpose
pessimistic nigerians, always have plenty reasons why things should remain the same , and new ideas must not be put into practice.
but the world is moving on, and Nigeria cannot afford to remain stagnant.

Is there a reason that Lagos has no fast moving subway system like other large cities?

Rail is how you move commuters quickly through a large urban area not ferries?

Yes, because we have been empowering the state with our IGR grin

If the money made in lagos is used judiciously, we will have a state that is better than Dubai. But poor management and embezzlement has been the bane of this state.

That's how ignorant mumus think. The public debt of Dubai is almost the same as the total debt of Nigeria. This means that a city of less than 10 million people has a debt profile similar to a nation of 200 million people.

Stop comparing apples and oranges in ignorance.

When i was younger, people said Oando was owned by Olusegun Obasanjo ('O' and 'O'). Now, they you guys have spin it to relate to Tinubu just because of your dislike for the man.

Now you want to sound smarter than everyone in the Oando boardroom who backed this project, as if they haven't thought through all of the challenges and how they will confront them.

You can choose to remain pessimistic about the pilot scheme anyway. It wont change the fact that the rolling out of the buses will start.

If you take a look at the fact that Lagos is just few metres above sea level with several built up areas, you would see how having a subway system isn't feasible in Lagos.

We all saw the cost of the Blue rail line which had an overhead route. Now imagine what it will cost to build a subway system

And you say Rail is how you move commuters quickly through a large urban area not ferries?, as if you are not aware of the on-going Blue and Red rail lines being constructed by the government. Isn't the construction of both rail routes a way of moving commuters quickly?

Should the government stop the development of ferry transport that connects riverine communities to focus on rail? Can't the two modes of transport be done simultaneously?

Manhattan is only a few feet above sea level amazing with many other major urban metro areas in the world and their subways work fine.

The costs are inflated in Nigeria due to corruption, this is common knowledge. All govt officials will guarantee that a rail project will be their lottery ticket for themselves and their families.

The question is what is the end objective of the electric buses. To reduce fossil fuel emissions? How many people in Nigeria can afford even basic electric cars today? Why spend so much in public chargers when only public transportation buses will use them? Is that profitable?

Misplaced objectives done for eye service. That is the summary of this project. [/quote

100% true.

Lagos is indeed the best state in Nigeria.
Is there any doubt as to that?
Every one knows Lagos is by far the best n most developed state cos it has been privileged. The development has nothing to do with the governors . It has always been favored and given undue attention compared to other states….in fact with what has been given to lagos it has no business been as underdeveloped, compared to other major cities in the world.Truth of the matter is Tinubu wrecked the state….

Because this will cause more traffic....

The government should consider water transportation

Or rail. You need to see the crazy traffic from Awoyaya to VGC since Friday.

Some people seriously don't understand this.

We are pumping more cars on the road when the government can actually diversify and look into rail & water transportation.

Someone said the government has invested in water transportation. I asked how many boats are on water in Lagos state. Let's say 10/15 boats but we have millions of cars on the road.

What's the point of waking up 5am because you don't want to be stuck in traffic when going to a place that shouldn't take you more than 30/45 mins.
