-Congratulations to the Ekweremadu family. You have entered British law history books forever.

There is a power to grant pardon but Today. The role of the Monarch is to ANNOUNCE it. Depending on which part of the UK the offence is committed the Monarch is ADVISED.to make the declaration by
England Justice Secretary
Scotland First Minister
Northern Ireland Secretary of State for Northern Ireland
Military cases. Defence Secretary
Those people are the ones who have the power to pardon

There isna thin line between organ harvesting and donation. OK... so was the victim donating his kidney and didn't know? Help me understand how one can make a donation but doesn't know what he is donating? How can he make such a statement after the case has exposed everything? I don't believe a lawyer can be so dumb.

Mr Ajulo, should do more research instead of talking shit on national TV. He is supposed to be a research scholar of Middlesex University but then again it is not LSE.

In the United Kingdom, the power to grant pardons is a prerogative of the monarch. However, the granting of pardons is typically done on the advice of the government, and it is rare for the monarch to exercise this power without the government's recommendation.

In general, the British monarch does not intervene in the legal system and would not typically pardon someone who has been convicted of a crime unless there are compelling reasons to do so, such as new evidence coming to light that would exonerate the person. In such cases, the monarch would typically act on the advice of the government or the judiciary.

It's also worth noting that the power to grant pardons is limited in the UK. The monarch can only grant a free pardon, which completely exonerates the person, or a conditional pardon, which may commute a sentence or release someone early. The monarch cannot grant a pardon that overturns a conviction or sentence, as this would be a violation of the separation of powers between the judiciary and the monarchy.

You are the one with ignorance here. Do you wonder why the Prime minister pledges respect to the King? If it was a business, the King is the Business Owner/CEO while the Prime minister is the manager. There is a reason every top government institution has the word "Royal" attached to them, for instance Royal Airforce or Royal Navy. The king is powerful than the prime minister. The power is usually silent but in the face of anarchy in government that power will be displayed. I am currently in the UK as I chat you, I tell you the reality on ground. You can even use Google to educate yourself.

Your first paragraph is petty.
Your last paragraph is self contradictory and illogical.
Overall it is clear that you do not know what you are talking about.
The summary is that today The monarch has no power to grant pardon. None whatsoever. The power resides in Ministers and the role of the Monarch is CEREMONIAL:to announce a pardon following ADVICE from a minister. This ADVICE is a euphemism. He has no choice but to make an announcement once ADVISED. If you have ever lived in the UK you would understand
