We've also never had a Mu-Mu presidency.

There is a first time for everything. The NW is Nigeria's most powerful political bloc and they throw their weight around when the opportunity presents.

They had the VP when they descended on GEJ in 2015. Giving up the VP to the NE is a major concession for them. Especially compared to the SW. The NW was also convinced to give up the SP for the SS. The dual principal positions is the only compromise they'd accept.

Of course, it is unfortunate that the North Central is not in the line of succession. But all of this became inevitable when Tinubu forced himself into the conversation. In the current polity, fairness is fugazi. You cannot become President after a Muslim and after your zone had 16 years at the top; then try to prevent the NW from establishing their own worrying precedence.

Tinubu will have to manage this deftly or the seeds of sabotage will be sown from the get go.

This is his first litmus test. Having one Saraki and one Dogara is plenty. Having several is a different ball game. And his second tenure is not a foregone conclusion yet. Every other region in Nigeria will easily greenlight a change of the guard in 2027 if he allows these petty squabbles to become raging infernos.
