what abt countries paying over 18-20% many years now...

It is not good for their economy.

Reason why western countries developed so fast is because of huge debts to the citizens and country.
You see people take car loans, house mortgages, student loans etc to survive and that is how their economy was planned to make money circulate within the economy.
If you take a £200k flat mortgage payable in 20 years at 1% interest rate, you will pay back £240k pounds after 20 years to have the apartment. That is 20k per year or £1,700 pounds per month.
If interest rate goes to 4.5%, it means a 200k flat will become 380k flat payment after 20 years and that is foocking huge to pay.
The chances of defaulting will be high.
So what happens?, People start avoiding loans and that terribly slows down the economy.
People will start avoiding buying a lot of things and many companies will collapse thereby creating more unemployment.
UK economy will become like 3rd world countries that are cash-based economy.
You will save for years to buy house, saving for years to buy second hand used cars because to be honest, only a fraction of people all over the world can afford brand new cars.
Most whites drive these cars on loans and that is about to be unaffordable.
