What I see is,most Kenyans are poor on driving skills or are just careless when driving.And most of these folks are used to live a lawless lives. When they come to TZ,they expect to be treated like royals, but when the law enforcement pound on them,they cry foul.

The same image on WhatsApp was used in all other stops, and they repeated the same script. By the seventh stop, we were feeling frustrated beyond explanation with very many questions as to why we got such harassment and extortion just because we had Kenyan number plates...

You'll be stopped at every police stop with allegations of over speeding, they used the same photo to extort us money from Tanga to Dar. They had a WhatsApp group where they shared the image of our cars and only edited the speed. Not once we go above 50 kph in the marked zones.

This has been going on for the last 15 years. They will stop u search for miraa, chewing tobacco (depending on the colour of your passengers) & always tell you that ur speeding. They are so confident in places they sit by a desk under a tree & "fine" you.


This ain't corruption, this is extortion. Kenyan cops are corrupt, but they won't fabricate false charges on you and coordinate the entire route for you to be extorted by other cops ahead.

I’m so sorry you experienced this I have lived in Tanzania for 2 years now and that hostility towards Kenyans is always present it never really goes away

Next time, install a Car dashcam. They did that to me twice...First stop i gave Tsh.15,000 and In the next stop, i was asked for Tsh. 20,000. I threatened to sue them by playing my speed at the laptop...they Chickened... Funny thing is that Dashcam is witchcraft to them.

And their beggars are emotionally blackmailing kenyans in all our towns - Naomba!

This extortionist tendency is typical of the hundreds of disabled people from TZ dumped in Kenya especially Nairobi, to beg by well oiled syndicates. They make up a large percentage of the beggars in Nairobi.

When I used to work there every single week immigration would visit. Permit or not. They would take u away for questioning and waste a whole day.

Then at night 2am they would visit u again (especially if you weren't in a top end hotel) to inspect your papers.

I have been to Tz six times, and 3 times I have been arrested because I'm Kenyan.
Tanzanians hate Kenyans with a passion, yet they are so many of them working in Gikomba with no work permit whatsoever.

You'll still be harrased even when you're a passenger in a TZ vehicle. I remember in 2016 a friend asked me to remain silent in the car after we were stopped by police. He didn't want the police to know there was a Kenyan in the car.


Tanzanians have always been jealous of Kenyans. And I am not talking about only their leaders naah even the common mwananchi are very hostile. Is it our fault we are light years ahead?

You better speak in English completely - Tanzania would rather die than string a setence in English - they just cant - idiots didnt go to proper schools

I swore never to drive in Tanzania again I'd rather fly or hire a car with Tanzanian number plates those Tanzanian traffic police are worse especially when they see Kenyan number plates anyway we were told another trick communicate in English whenever they stop you
