Kenya is totally different comparing with Tanzania. You develop a a small portion of Nairobi while 2/3 of a country is almost having no infrastructure.
While in tanzania, developments are wide spread throughout the country. If you argue,we can compare Turkana with any poor region of TZ and u will understand what am talking about

Then don't read too much from black Americans, these folks are not well informed. In fact,they are mostly dumb. Just imagine, a guy who claimed TZ is 30 years back,have never been in any part of northern or western north of kenya,but how can he say TZ is behind without knowing kenya?

Your country is a joke citizens cant afford to buy houses. Look at this estate that is empty after years. In Kenya such an estate would have been fully bought in weeks. Its only 10m. The american guys is just giving his honest opinion after staying in dar for weeks and getting his shoes filled with dirt all the time. You have no widespread development in tanzania instead everywhere is uniformly undeveloped. Kenya has countless areas with truly european/american level of development...mostly the surburbs of major cities are western level. The foreigners are just being honest.

It's the official rate that would come closer to the black market rate, not the other way around. That's the only way to make the rates converge. They could try to attract Dollars into the economy to reduce demand but for that to happen, a lot of reforms need to be implemented. Truth is if the currency is around to float, it's the market that would decide what the rates would be. Not the CBN governor or the president.

After all said and done the exchange rate (without subsidy) would still settle between 500-600 naira (or even better with some reforms), which is just at the middle between 460 and 700 naira.

We'll see what will happen with time. The states especially would breathe a sigh of relief. They were really struggling to meet their debt obligations, pay salaries on time, and implement their budget. With the subsidy gone, that would mean they get to share an extra N400bn which would mean a lot to the new admins, civil servants and pensioners in particular who have had their salaries delayed or not been paid at all sometimes running Into months.
